About The RoleAs a Privacy Software Engineer at SmartThings, you will:
- Collaborate with partner teams to achieve key initiatives by providing privacy expertise.
- Develop and implement effective security and privacy controls for cloud-based and distributed architectures.
- Ensure necessary privacy requirements are well understood and privacy processes are in place while empowering engineers to do their jobs confidently.
- Assess the appropriateness and effectiveness of security measures and recommend enhancements.
- Evaluate response methodologies to ensure a quick and thorough response to privacy issues.
What You Bring On Day One (Required Qualifications)
- 3 years of experience in privacy operations or similar experience.
- Knowledge of privacy principles and regulations.
- Experience with developing and/or recommending privacy controls.
- Familiar with fundamental computer science concepts.
- Scripting/Programming skills
- Understanding of IoT and wireless communications (WiFi, Zigbee, Z-Wave)
- Familiarity with AWS (EC2, Networking, Security Hub, Inspector, etc.)
- Familiarity with privacy regulations such as GDPR and CCPA.
