SMC is Hiring an IT Director, Business Solutions Near Somerset, WI

Job Summary: The Director oversees IT team members as they support, modify and/or deploy solutions that align with SMC’s organizational goals. This role works closely with business partners to evaluate business needs and then documenting capabilities to address business challenges. Regularly evaluate current systems to identify risks, vulnerabilities, improvement opportunities and recommend new software to enable SMC to meet organizational goals. A significant focus will be on utilization and maximization of the ERP.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Execute: Support business solutions (ERP, MES, Reporting, Analytics, etc…) to ensure operations are maintained, sustained, and disruptions minimized. Collaborate with operations leaders on system upgrades, enhancements, and maintenance timeframes.
  • People Management: Manage a team of business analysts (6-8), support technicians and vendor partnerships. Identify, coach, and develop talent within the team, provide opportunities for learning, growth and clearly communicate job and performance expectations. Implements practices that focus on service excellence to all stakeholders.
  • Customer Focus: Operate with a mindset of helping support the business – “here to help”.
  • Relationship Management: Build relationships with key leaders across the broader organization to expand understanding of various business functions challenges & opportunities to develop new or modified information processing systems. Engage with key leaders to obtain additional information during system development and evaluate alternatives.
  • Technology Governance: Provide overall governance for IT activities, working closely with stakeholders to identify and implement new technologies and applications.
  • Strategic Planning: Engage in strategic planning efforts of the IT department, fostering innovation and allocating resources effectively to support business objectives. Leverage strategic vision, technical expertise, and leadership to enhance operational efficiency, productivity, and innovation within the organization.
  • Financial: Prepare & manage a budget, prepare time, and cost estimates for completing projects including Cost-Benefit & ROI calculations.
  • Policies: Policy formulation and guidance: Responsible for creating policies necessary to implement the IT management goals and objectives and the goals of the organization.
  • External Relationships: Building and maintaining relationships with external advisors and vendors.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field
  • 10 years of technology management experience, including 5 years of staff management and mentoring
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize and execute tasks effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills including both presentation, verbal, and written skills.
  • Critical thinking and problem resolution skills.
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems and hosted management services.
  • Experience leading technology teams within a manufacturing environment
  • High emotional intelligence and self-awareness.
  • Ability to explain highly technical concepts in simple terms
  • Fiscal / Budget experience and financial acumen regarding technology investments, business impact and trade offs
  • Proficient with project management and continuous improvement methodologies and tools.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience using IQMS (SMC’s ERP)
  • Lean certification, green or black belt.

ADA Requirements:

  • Typically sits, grasps items and performs keyboarding for frequent operation of a computer
  • Stand, walk, bend, reach or otherwise move about regularly
  • Lift, move, or otherwise transfer items up to 40 lbs. occasionally, >20 lbs. frequently
  • Occasional exposure to typical machine shop physical hazards
  • Travel by air or car frequently
