POSITION SUMMARY

The Lead Dental Assistant contributes to Smile Design Dental's continued success by passionately executing the company’s business model, and promoting the company culture, mission and values. This Job Description identifies the major responsibilities of this position. It does not include all aspects of this position such as potential duties assigned by supervisors and requirements for flexibility. The Lead Dental Assistant is responsible for helping in the development of the other Dental Assistants in the office.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

• Preparing treatment room for patient by following prescribed procedures and protocols.
• Preparing patient for dental treatment by welcoming, comforting, seating, and draping patient.
• Sterilizing and delivering instruments to treatment area; positioning instruments for dentist's access
• Documents dental care services by charting in patient records.
• Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
• Friendly and outgoing personality
• Ensure that all consent forms are signed by patients and doctors

• Maintain weekly list of all office supplies and ensure order is placed on-time in the dental supply system for management approval
• Experienced candidates preferred

• Lead assistants are expected to work efficiently with all Doctors, dental assistants, hygienists and front desk staff to ensure effective patient flow

• Ensure all lab cases are properly checked in and ready for the patient on the day of their scheduled appointment 

• Provide assistance with the proper training of new Doctors and/or dental assistants to help them acclimate to the office protocols
• Ensure proper dental assistant coverage for the office on specialist days and/or to vacation coverage
• A Lead Dental Assistant leads by example and looks to build efficiency in daily task for effective patient flow

• Responsible for proper maintenance of emergency and first aid supply kits in and ensure that they are properly stocked and up to date

•  Perform weekly maintenance checks on all office equipment such as; processor, autoclave and compressor
• Identify, report and follow up on any maintenance issues in the office including dental equipment, hand pieces, hand piece log.

• Ensure all clinical staff is following proper OSHA regulations and safety requirements, and are compliant with HIPPA guidelines. Additional corrective actions should be taken with the support of management if necessary.
