Smile New York Outreach is looking for a School Partnership Coordinator to work with our partner schools in the field to prepare for successful in school dental clinics and to drive participation. Serving children in over 500 NY area schools, Smile New York Outreach brings dental care to those students with the highest need in a comfortable and effective way.
In this role, you will be traveling to 2-4 schools per day, concentrating in Manhattan and Westchester to build critical school partnerships and school investment in the dental program. Working collaboratively with the VP of Educational Partnerships in Smile NY, you will visit schools to assess clinic spaces for compatibility with the dental clinic and plan best ways to engage more students in struggling schools to enroll in the program. Strategies may include, but are not limited to

• Discussions with school leaders such as principals, parent coordinators, school nurses and social workers
• Presentations about oral health to classrooms and/or grade levels
• Attendance at parent meetings, PTA meetings, school fairs, back to school nights, teacher conferences, career fairs, and any other school events
• Pre-visits to schools to assure logistics/space can accommodate dental services

You will be reporting to our VP of Educational Partnerships, but you will need to be able to manage your day-to-day schedule without direct supervision.
Requirements

• Background in healthcare, dental care or community service is a plus
• Willingness to support your manager and Smile NY support staff in any way to achieve goals- excellent team player
• Daily travel within New York City Metro area- primarily Southern boroughs. Comfort with NYC public transportation
• Available to work Monday-Friday, including drop off and dismissal times, not to exceed 40 hours/week. Availability for evening and weekends for school events (ex health fairs, back to school nights, conferences).
• Professional appearance
• Self-motivated, able to make and maintain own reliable schedule of school visits
• Organized, detail oriented
• Passionate about the Smile NY mission and ability to communicate this effectively
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Spanish speaking is a plus
• Goal Oriented
• Experience with Excel, Word, email and ability to learn and maintain Smile NY data tracking program and Google calendar
• Reliable and consistent communication with the Smile NY team
• Background Check and Finger Printing with the Department of Education
