Job Description

STS Aerospace in Laconia, NH is searching for a Quality Engineer to join the team.This position is a leader and key member of the HPPT (Hight Performance Production Team of a designated value stream) that plans, conducts, and leads reactive and proactive continuous improvement activities concerned with and responsible for the quality control and quality assurance of industrial processes, materials, and products.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Designs, develops, and initiates standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation.
  • Aids in the design and maintenance of AS9100 Based Quality Management System
  • Plans and conducts the analysis, inspection, design, test, and/or integration to assure the quality of the assigned product or component.
  • Performs quality engineering reviews of design documentation for compliance with stated requirements, including vendor quality manuals and company quality records.
  • Applies statistical process control (SPC) methods for analyzing data to evaluate the current process and process changes.
  • Completes internal audits and recertification audits as scheduled
  • Drives resolution of Non-conformance issues (internal and external), RMAs, CAs and NMRs
  • Creation, review, and submittal of First Article Inspection reports per AS9102 standards.
  • Participate with cross-functional teams to support RCCM, CI initiatives
  • Engage with Suppliers and Customers with a focus on cooperative and collaborative problem resolution, development, and flow-down communication
  • Communicates significant issues or developments identified during quality activities and provides recommended process improvements to management.
  • Create, modify, and implement Inspection Method Sheets when required
  • Maintains a working knowledge of government and industry quality codes and standards.
  • Promotes Smiths leadership traits and culture, such as but not limited to, being safety conscious, having a positive attitude and a team building mentality.
  • Consistently, regularly, and dependably at work and on time.
  • Other duties as assigned

The Individual

Education, Experience, Certifications

Bachelor's degree in a STEM related field and 8 years of experience and/or related training or combination ofexperience.

Preferred areas:
  • Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification - with real world facilitation of kaizen events and/or projects
  • CQE - Quality Engineer Certification
