Duties
The Project Manager manages multiple programs, special projects, and provides day-to-day coordination and management of project teams. Also, serves as contracting officer’s representative (COR) for contracts for supplies and services.
In This Position, You Will:
  • Manage national education and audience engagement programs that provide valuable knowledge to communities about preserving their heirlooms.
  • Manage and monitor the execution of multiple, concurrent projects associated with exhibitions, assuring that commitments, obligations and deliverables meet the requirements of the museum, including those related to accessibility and agreements with outside stakeholders.
  • Control project risks by identifying actual and potential problem areas, trends, deficiencies and areas of imbalance.
  • Work closely and collaboratively with leadership and colleagues in educational, curatorial, communications, external affairs, and digital strategy to deliver mission related programs.
  • Provide direction to contractors, program support positions, volunteers and interns. Tracks progress and quality of performance and decides on the acceptability, rejection or correction of work products or services.
  • Support Assistant Director for Project Management with long- and short-term planning for special projects and programs. Plans and tracks cost and cash flow requirements across multiple sources of funding.

QualificationsExperience: You qualify for this position if you have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 level in the Federal Service. For this position, specialized experience is defined as experience managing complex projects in a museum setting or cultural institution; applying project management concepts, practices, and methodologies; performing planning; problem solving; estimating, performing cost analysis including tracking cost and cash flow; and reporting and forecasting for such projects.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Part-time and/or unpaid experience related to this position will be considered to determine the total number of years and months of experience. Be sure to note the number of paid or unpaid hours worked each week.
