SMX is Hiring an Acquisition Project Manager Near Fort Washington, MD

SMX is seeking an Acquisition Project Manager to directly support the Secretary of the Air Force (SAF)/Concept Development Management Office (SAF/CDM), Operations and Technical Support Directorate (CDMO), Concepts Project Office (CPO).
The ideal candidate will have expertise in requirements specific to program/project management, contracting/acquisitions, the intelligence community, and inter-agency program development, as well as building operational requirements, decision tools, implementation plans, integration support, preparing analysis and studies, plans and policy analysis, monitoring and reporting, and adaptive synchronization and collaboration. This position involves significant interaction with program management, senior leadership (SES), contracts personnel, senior technical personnel, and other functional support organizations.
This position requires a DoD TS/SCI clearance which requires US citizenship for work on DoD contracts.Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and management of projects, understand business objectives and operations, and lead client and team meetings
  • Serve as subject matter expert for project strategy and vision
  • Document and facilitate communication between groups; capture requirements needed to initiate change
  • Develop and implement detailed project plans to ensure high quality, clarity, and appropriate execution
  • Build strong working relationships through open and transparent communication
  • Ensure resource availability and allocation
  • Manage requirements, scope, and schedule changes
  • Resolve project issues and follows through to resolution with appropriate team members
  • Perform risk management to minimize project risks
  • Partner with the team to establish and implement best practices
  • Generate project roadmaps and prioritize items in accordance with guidance
  • Solicit feedback on existing processes; implement iterative change and assist team and stakeholders in understanding and accepting change
  • Help design and compile Key Performance Indicators
  • Independently identify work breakdown structures (WBS) required to complete project plans
  • Develop and document implementation plans to include detailed activities, responsibilities, milestones, and timelines for process implementation
  • Assist in the organizational creation of decision matrices and frameworks that enable organizational unity of effort but is also capable of supporting operationally chaotic environments with a learning process
  • Develop plans, assessments, and supporting briefings in support of the CDM mission
Required Skills & Experience
  • Required Clearance: TS/SCI
  • 3-10 years of related experience
  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • Ability to operate in a complex, dynamic and fast-paced environment while developing new processes and tools
  • Ability to communicate clearly with all levels in an organization
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Exceptional client management skills
  • Extensive experience developing, managing, and documenting project requirements
  • Strong project management skills, including management of scope, schedule, and risks mitigation
  • Experience managing day-to-day interactions with cross-functional team
  • Ability to compute project planning items and categorize them into manageable work streams
Desired Skills & Experience
  • Master's Degree preferred
  • 10-15 years of experience providing support to DoD organizations (program office, PEO, major command, combatant command)
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Teams and the Microsoft Office suite (MS Word, MW Excel, MS PowerPoint)
  • Experience providing executive-level program management support to the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense (OUSD) or United States Air Force (USAF), highly desired
  • Experience in cyber, Air Force Research Labs, Air Force Concepts Project Office, digital environments, space modernization, highly desired
