We’re looking for a Software Engineer, ML Infrastructure to join the User Understanding team at Snap Inc. Our team is building a central system to understand user interests and personalize their experiences.
What you'll do:

• Combine strong software engineering principles with machine learning to build scalable, reproducible and easy-to-use end-to-end machine learning workflows for advanced deep learning problems
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of systems that generate user understanding embeddings.
• Assist in optimizing pipelines to ensure data freshness.
• Learn and contribute to scalable model training frameworks.
• Gain experience working with user feature serving systems.
• Collaborate with the team to develop strategies for keeping user profiles up-to-date.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

• Excellent programming and software design skills, including debugging, performance analysis, and test design
• Proficiency coding with Java, C , and/or Python
• Ability to operate highly-available systems at significant scale
• Ability to collaborate and work well with others
• Ability to proactively learn new concepts and apply them at work

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related technical field such as Computer Science or equivalent years of experience
• 3 years of software development experience
• Proficient at scaling ML embedding training and inference distributed systems
• Experience with at least one programming language like Golang, Java, or Python
• Experience in building and operating machine learning and large-scale systems
• Experience with preprocessing data pipelines

Preferred Qualifications

• Masters/PhD in a technical field such as computer science or equivalent industry experience
• Experience with building and optimizing large-scale data pipelines for user understanding use cases.
• Familiarity with distributed computing systems used for large-scale machine learning.

CompensationIn the United States, work locations are assigned a pay zone which determines the salary range for the position. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These pay zones may be modified in the future.
Zone A (CA, WA, NYC):
The base salary range for this position is $152,000-$228,000 annually.
Zone B:
The base salary range for this position is $144,000-$217,000 annually.
Zone C:
The base salary range for this position is $129,000-$194,000 annually.
This position is eligible for equity in the form of RSUs.
