Job Title: CAD Designer

Job Description
Responsibilities and Essential Duties:
• Liaison between CUSTOMER engineering and sub-contract design drafters
• Provide administrative supervision of sub-contract design drafting staff.
• Administration of Customer policies and procedures for sub-contract drafting staff.
• Establish and manage performance required to satisfy project fabrication, construction milestones, deliverables, and lead corrective actions where necessary.
• Develop, prepare, present, and participate in required design reviews, reports, procedures, and other communications in support of technical and administrative assignments.
• Provide innovative conceptual engineering design and development proposals by preparing or directing initial layouts and checking form, fit, and function.
• Collaborate and participate in the definition of functional requirements.
• Evaluate alternative design concepts consistent with schedule, cost, and material limitations.
• Ensure the quality of the drawings produced.
• Maintain close working relationships with Customer leaders and managers to ensure timely, cost-effective execution of design/drafting services.
Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (desirable) or other technical degree with high drafting content with 10 years’ experience
• Minimum of 5 years relevant work experience in drafting
• Ability to read and interpret Structural steel, Piping and Ductwork drawings.
• Good communication skills
• Thorough knowledge of AutoCAD, Inventor and Navis Works is desirable.
• Project Engineering/Management experience desirable
• Fabrication/Construction experience desirable
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
• Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
• Must be capable of developing fabrication drawings with an understanding of efficiency and financial impact.
• Must be capable of verifying the work of others.
• Has a working knowledge of manufacturing processes, machines, and various building materials.
• Follows direction and is capable of learning and applying Customer drafting standards.
• Having knowledge of drafting fundamentals including orthographic views, standard dimensioning practices, scaling plus English and metric units of measure.
Computer Skills:
• Minimum 5 years AutoCAD and INVENTOR experience.
• Must be proficient in all Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel and Outlook)
