The Assistant Controller will oversee accounting staff whose functions include GL/AP/AR/Inventory for our Texas dealerships currently consisting of 3 dealerships selling and servicing Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles. The Assistant Controller will report directly to the Controller. Requirements
Develop and manage accounting staff on a daily basis
Prepares and reports the monthly financial statements for our franchises in accordance with dealership guidelines and within the manufacturers' guidelines, formats and deadlines
Reviews balance sheet accounts on a regular basis for proper presentation and accuracy
Review schedules to ensure proper maintenance by the accounting department
Responsible for delivering weekly operating metrics/monthly financial close, planning, forecasting, budgeting, and consolidations utilizing financial systems and advance excel functions
Provides FP&A related work including expense management, variance analysis, and assisting with the yearly budgeting process as needed
Calculates and posts the monthly commissions of all department managers paid on dealership's monthly performance
Improve accounting processes and utilize technology to become more efficient
Maintain G/L integrity and comply with GAAP requirements
Calculate and post standard entries for recurring expenses
Submit monthly VIT, Use and Sales tax reports
Liaison between office team and 3 stores department heads
Ensure accurate reconciliation and timely processing of payables
Monitor receivables and ensure timely collection such as charge accounts
Assist Controller with month-end closing as needed
Oversee inventory controls and determine areas to operate more efficiently
Become proficient in DMS and continuously train on updates to the system
Calculate, post, and reconcile month end manager payroll accrual
Research and posts certain transactions on weekly bank statement as needed
Other duties that may be assigned/needed
Education and/or Experience:
Prior automotive dealership accounting experience
Prior Accounting & Office management experience
Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or other business-related discipline is preferred
Must be detail oriented and possess good organizational skills and the ability to work to deadlines
Must have outstanding verbal and written communication skills
