Job DescriptionSobi is seeking a passionate, highly collaborative and strategic leader to serve as the Executive Director, Senior National Field Director within the Immunology Franchise, specifically focusing on the launch of a therapy for a severe, rare form of gout (chronic refractory gout). This leader will be responsible for achieving or exceeding the launch asset’s performance ambition and goals by building the team, leading leaders and setting the vision, culture and direction for a team of Regional Business Directors, Clinical Account Managers, and other cross functional account roles (to be formalized) across the entire United States. This role will be part of the Immunology and asset specific leadership teams and will play a critical role in setting the field strategy and ultimate performance success for this new launch asset. The role will report directly into the Immunology Franchise Head.
This role is flexible on location. Travel to the Waltham, MA office is expected, in addition to field related travel. Total travel time up to 60%.
Essential Responsibilities/Scope of the Job: Including, but not limited to, the following:
  • Achieve or exceed the asset’s performance ambition and goals
  • Work with other leadership for the asset to establish the brand’s ambition, overarching strategies and performance measures
  • Establish field go-to-market strategy and detailed implementation plan for launch; continually assess and refine post launch to best enable desired outcomes.
  • Develop and implement launch strategies for the chronic refractory gout product, ensuring successful market penetration and growth.
  • Build, lead, coach, and manage the Immunology team across the United States.
  • Work with the Regional Business Directors and other cross functional account leaders to improve and evolve sales force competencies, customer relationship management, and talent development.
  • Attract, develop, and retain high performing internal/external talent to effectively meet or exceed business expectations.
  • Provide personalized coaching and situational leadership practices to develop individual/team skills and abilities to meet performance expectations.
  • Partner effectively with the cross-functional teams (e.g., medical, marketing, market access/patient services, and commercial innovation and operations) to ensure excellence in execution of all brand-related activities and a seamless customer experience.
  • Drive a culture of Rare Strength (collaboration, accountability), Agility, and Impact.
  • Effectively delegate and manage all resources and budgets for their area.
  • Fully accountable for ensuring a culture of compliance by partnering with Regulatory, Legal, and Compliance departments to act within the rules.
  • Monitor and analyze market trends, competitor activities, and sales and business performance to inform strategic decisions and adjustments.
  • Engage with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and key accounts to build strong relationships in support of the product launch and ongoing promotional activities.
  • Facilitate training programs to ensure the sales team is well-equipped with product knowledge, competitive landscape insights, and effective selling techniques.
  • Actively contribute to the broader Immunology Leadership team
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or other relevant advance degree preferred
  • 15 years’ experience in pharmaceutical sales or healthcare experience
  • 8 years of prior Sales Management experience, including second line management
  • Extensive experience in rare and severe disease therapeutic areas and KOL development; including experience designing and implementing innovative commercial models
  • Demonstrated general manager mindset, including owning and delivering on revenue goals, and thinking strategically on broad levers to drive the business
  • Experience launching new therapies as a leader
  • Experience in buy and bill therapies (medical benefits) in a community practice setting
  • Demonstrated communication competencies, including presentation skills
  • Experience in and understanding of the rheumatology space is preferred (not required), including the challenges of GPO/IDN influence
  • Ability to identify strategies with the greatest business impact, formulate an appropriate business plan, and enroll their teams to execute the plan
  • Exhibited ability to manage multiple, concurrent work-streams in diverse functional areas
  • Successful experience working in a cross-functional, team selling/education environment
  • Experience in managing budgets and resources
Additional InformationThe base salary pay range for this role is $220,000-$295,000 annually. Actual pay for this position will take into account factors such as experience and location. In addition to a base salary, this position is also eligible for a competitive 401k match, short and long-term incentives, medical, dental, vision, STD/LTD and life insurance benefits, in addition to other health and wellness programs and offerings
