Our Research Associates play an important role in producing the research Bernstein and Autonomous are famous for: unbiased, thematic, collaborative, data-driven, and always differentiated. You will develop relationships across the investing community and over time become a thought partner for our clients. You will work closely with your team but come to have a high degree of autonomy and independence. You will perform in-depth analysis of important trends and debates impacting the Consumer Finance and Fintech industries, such as macroeconomic developments (e.g., changing interest rates and equity markets); consumer spending, credit trends, and behavior; growth opportunities and market share shifts; and the evolving business models of both incumbent financials and emerging fintechs.
Consumer Finance and Fintech are technically sophisticated sectors, and you will learn concepts that can be applied across a wide variety of financial services companies (banks, specialty finance, payments, etc.). Opportunistically, the role is likely to include exciting deal-related work as new IPOs in the industry come to market, as well as providing opportunity for broadening the team’s coverage base.

- Develop sector expertise working with a Senior Analyst who is a seasoned industry expert
- Become highly proficient at in-depth analysis of your companies, stocks and industry themes
- Author written research that is famous for its deep industry insights and analytical rigor
- Become adept at financial forecasting, including building detailed forward-looking models
- Build strong relationships across the investing community, including our sales and trading teams and institutional clients
- Build a network within your industry including senior management of your companies
Required Profile requiredOur Research Associates typically possess the following qualifications:
Basic
- Excellent broad-based analytical skills
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
- Strong quantitative backgrounds and ability to work with data sets
- Relentless intellectual curiosity
- Bachelor’s degree
- Academic focus in finance, economics, math, science, or related field
- Experience in analyzing consumer finance companies
