Location: We are seeking an experienced Maintence Worker for the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center
Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center Information:
The Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center Dallas (KBHCCD) is one of the largest convention centers in the nation. Every year it welcomes over a million visitors attending major national and international conventions, meetings, concerts, athletic competitions, auto shows, and more.
Located in the heart of downtown Dallas, the KBHCCD has been and continues to be a fixture in the Dallas skyline offering 1 million square feet of exhibit space, three ballrooms, 88 meeting rooms, 1,750-seat theater, and a 9,816-seat arena. The award-winning facility is connected to a 1,001-room hotel via skybridge and is adjacent to two Vertiport landing pads.
The Maintenance Worker is responsible for ensuring that the physical plant of Sodexo Live! operating
locations is presentable and well-functioning by performing repairs to unit facilities as assigned by
operations managers. This includes but is not limited to tasks involving carpentry, electrical, plumbing,
masonry and painting.
The Maintenance Worker will function in a 'handy person' capacity, by performing routine upkeep and
maintenance of furnishings, fixtures and equipment within assigned unit. They will order supplies and
parts as needed, complete weekly and monthly preventative maintenance checklists, perform janitorial
duties, respond to emergency maintenance requests and assist with renovations and remodeling. The
Maintenance worker will ensure that Sodexo Live! standards for safety, presentation and product quality
are upheld.
Major Responsibility: Maintain and repair unit equipment, appliances, machinery, furniture and fixtures
in assigned location to Sodexo Live! standards to ensure a safe, efficient, presentable and well-
functioning work environment.
Supporting Actions:
* Log all maintenance requests and issues.
* Maintain a clean work area at all times; Wipe down surfaces, sweep, mop, remove garbage and
debris and put supplies and materials in proper place; Perform custodial duties as needed.
* Requisition, transport and re-stock supplies as needed.
* Conduct frequent walk-thrus of facilities and visually identify issues requiring attention; Perform
tasks involving carpentry, electrical work, plumbing, masonry, and painting as necessary.
* Utilize personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow MSDS guidelines for safe handling of chemicals used throughout facility.
* Follow OSHA and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HAACP) guidelines.
* Comply with established manufacturer standards for safe operation, repair and maintenance of machinery.
* Repair and treat structures such as floors, sinks, walls, ceilings and carpeting.
* Perform minor troubleshooting repairs and adjustments of locks on doors, cabinets, desks,closets.
* Service appliances, kitchen, and emergency equipment.
* Reports mechanical malfunctions to appropriate vendor or contractor for immediate action.
* Moves and assists in moving furniture and equipment at various locations within facility.
* Exercise discretion in identifying projects requiring the services of a more highly skilled
craftsperson; Notify Director of Operations of repair problems beyond the scope of skill and authority.
* Know and comply with all company policies and procedures regarding safety, security, emergencies and energy
* Paint, refinish and perform minor maintenance tasks such as replacing ballasts, transformers and light fixtures.
* Perform minor preventive maintenance work order tasks on HVAC.
* Perform building and light assembly work such as shelving.
* Complete daily work log, incident and accident reports, and requisitions for supplies and materials.
* Respond to perform emergency cleaning and repair work as required.
* Clean, filter and sanitize all fryers; Clean hood vents and screens.
* Check all refrigerators for proper temperature.
* Clean and maintain all portable equipment such as beer taps, beer lines, wheels, front panels and awnings.
* Repair and maintain all tables, chairs and stools in restaurants.
Required:
* High school diploma or equivalent.
* Minimum of one year experience in facilities maintenance and janitorial work.
* Basic background in plumbing, painting and/or electrical work.
* Experience in dry walling, painting, plumbing, basic electrical and/or carpentry preferred.
* Experience in operating maintenance equipment, including hand and power tools, test equipment and pressure washer preferred.
* Ability to participate in a team environment.
* Ability to follow written and oral direction.
* Ability to work under pressure and independently.
* Ability to apply a high level of accuracy and attention to detail to all tasks.
* Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
* Computer proficiency for data entry and purchasing software.
* Demonstrated ability to understand and effectively implement written and verbal instructions.
* Strong team orientation and ability to work with a variety of departments to accomplish assigned tasks.
* Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) used by supervisors and co-workers.
* Scheduling flexibility to meet operational needs. Hours may be extended or irregular to include
nights, weekends and holidays.
* High level of ownership, accountability, initiative and follow through.
Other Requirements:
Requires lifting up to 50 pounds on a regular and continuing basis. Must be able to work in extremes of
cold and heat. Hours may be extended or irregular to include nights, weekends and holidays.
Must be able to meet the following requirements with reasonable accommodation:

* The employee must be able to use hands to finger, handle, feel, reach with hands and arms, and taste or smell.

* Ability to physically walk approximately one-fourth (1/4) of a mile and the circumference of the unit
several times a day.
* Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
* While performing duties of this job, the associate is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and extreme heat.
* Employee must be able to perform repetitive motions.
* The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and extreme cold.
* Employee must be able to work in a cold environment - such as when working in walk-in refrigerators.
* The employee frequently has hands in soapy water and/or cleaning and sanitizing chemicals.
* Employee must have ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
* Employee must be able to operate in an environment with moderate to high noise
* Employee must have the ability to walk with non-skid shoes at all times.
