Solaris Health Holdings LLC is Hiring a Medical Assistant Near Orland, IL

Description

OVERVIEW: The Medical Assistant supports the delivery of urological services, performs work as required and functions as an effective member of the AUS interdisciplinary team. The Medical Assistant I is tasked to perform routine administrative and clinical tasks to keep the medical offices running smoothly. This position collaborates/work with staff within their SBU or other professional disciplines within the AUS affiliated medical groups as needed to achieve effective and efficient patient care delivery and the desired patient outcomes. Depending on the size of an SBU, the job duties may vary.

REPORTING STRUCTURE: Depending on the SBU assigned, the Medical Assistant I will report directly to a Clinical Supervisor or Lead Medical Assistant. All clinical and administrative staff report to the Office Manger who oversees the overall business operations of the assigned SBU.

ACCOUNTABILITIES/NATURE AND SCOPE: The Medical Assistant I will have the following accountabilities (but are not limited to):

  1. The MA I will perform various administrative and clinical duties under the direction of their assigned direct supervisor within their SBU.
  2. The MA I will consistently confer with physicians, nursing, and other staff members to coordinate and schedule appointments of patients.
  3. Greets and prepare patients for their assigned SBU Physician.
  4. Performs the following clinical duties as necessary:
  5. Measures and records vital signs
  6. Records patient interview, history, and chief complaint
  7. Provides patient education with regards to medications, management of diseases, home treatments and special diets
  8. Prepares patients for examinations and performs routing screening tests
  9. Assists physicians with exams
  10. Phlebotomy and collection of other lab specimens
  11. Performs basic lab test
  12. Performs EKG’s
  13. Assists with X-ray and physician therapy procedures
  14. Prepares and administers medications with physician authorization
  15. Changes dressings, applies bandages, removes sutures and other first aid procedures
  16. Uses CPR skills when necessary
  17. Prepares accurate, legal, and ethical documentation at all times
  18. Make sure that the office is opened in the morning and closed in the afternoon (Closing and Opening responsibilities attached)
  19. Assist in maintaining patient logs for the following:
  20. Lab requests, CT scans and other treatment orders for the patients
  21. Prescription ledger when needed
  22. Maintaining the back office with good flow
  23. Keeping rooms full
  24. Assist with room turnover
  25. New patient thorough work-up (x-rays, vitals, new patient packet explanation)
  26. Adding medical history on all new patients and update all established patients’ history in InPracSys accurately.
  27. Accurate and complete room set-up for physician
  28. Ensures that all patients medication is updated in InPracSys before the physicians sees patients
  29. Set-up for in office Surgical procedures
  30. Appropriate consent completed correctly avoiding the use of too many medical abbreviations within the consent forms
  31. Room set-up complete
  32. Scribe as assigned per physician office flow
  33. Preparation for seeing patients the following day
  34. Patient confirmations for following day
  35. Completes patient medical record requests when necessary
  36. Maintaining controls for the UA and PSA machine for offices that have these devices available
  37. Assist with other administrative projects and tasks as needed.
  38. Ensures proper hand off of responsibilities once their task is completed
  39. Meets established attendance criteria and starts work promptly. Punctual and dependable for assigned/confirmed shifts
  40. Respects and acknowledges the organizations commitment to cultural diversity, which is expressed through behavior, language and actions.
  41. Consistently demonstrates good use of time and resources.
  42. Adherence to HR, & Corporate policies and procedures.
  43. Ensuring that all medical records are accurate and complete within the SBU for all patients.
  44. Ensuring compliance of healthcare regulations, medical laws and high ethical standards.
  45. Regularly adheres and supports compliance and accreditation efforts as assigned including, but not limited to OSHA, HIPAA & CMS guidelines for Parts C & D on General Compliance and Fraud, Waste & Abuse.
  46. Performs other position related duties as assigned

OTHER DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Maintains medical supply inventory and meets with or calls vendors to place medical supply orders weekly
  2. Must be able to recognize and respond appropriately to urgent/emergent situations per protocol
  3. Perform basic triage per specific office and clinical protocol procedures
  4. Respects cultural and religious practices of patients
  5. Maintain professional appearance at all times
  6. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with physicians, staff and management
  7. Effectively cope with typical job stress
  8. Document work process as required
  9. Punctual and dependent for assigned/confirmed shifts
  10. Wear identification badge while working
  11. Perform other duties assigned

Requirements

EDUCATION & CERTIFICATION:

Graduate from a recognized college or university with an Associate’s Degree in Applied Science and/or a Programmatically Accredited Medical Assisting Education. CPR certification is required. Yearly OSHA and CLIA training will also be required.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

The MA I must have a minimum of 1-year experience in a physician office setting preferably within the urology specialty. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Proficient interpersonal relations skills.

COMPETENCIES:

  1. Must demonstrate excellent organizational skills and the ability to perform well in stressful situations.
  2. Knowledge in healthcare systems operations such as EMR, Practice Management Solutions.
  3. Communication skills and customer service oriented.
  4. Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines.

  6. Vendor relations (for those MA’s that are required to order office and clinical supplies)
  7. Database management
  8. Strong problem-solving skills
  9. Coachable
  10. Clinical Competencies (A Medical Assistant Checklist will be provided and used during the annual performance review of each Medical Assistant)

COMPUTER SKILLS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have the knowledge of: Internet Software; Word Processing Software (Microsoft Word); Electronic Mail Software (Microsoft Outlook); Electronic Health Records (EMR Software); Practice Management Software (AllScripts)

Utilizing proper body mechanics, the employee is required to set-up patients for medical treatment up to 350 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
