Special Education Teacher (SPED)

Location: Elk River, MN

Description: We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher (SPED) to join our school team in Elk River, MN. The Special Education Teacher will play a crucial role in providing individualized instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs, ensuring they have access to a meaningful and inclusive education. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of special education practices, excellent munication skills, and a mitment to fostering a positive learning environment.

Educational Requirements:

• Bachelors or Masters degree in Special Education or a related field
• Valid Minnesota state teaching certification in Special Education

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with disabilities, in collaboration with the IEP team
• Provide direct instruction and support in various subjects and skills, tailored to the unique needs and abilities of each student
• Utilize a variety of teaching strategies and resources to acmodate different learning styles and promote student engagement
• Assess students' progress regularly and adjust instructional methods and goals as needed
• Collaborate with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and other staff to create an inclusive classroom environment
• municate effectively with parents and guardians about students' progress, needs, and strategies for support
• Provide behavior management and support to students, using positive behavior interventions and supports (PBIS)
• Maintain accurate and confidential records of students' progress, assessments, and services provided
• Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in special education
• Advocate for the needs and rights of students with disabilities within the school setting

Certifications:

• Valid Minnesota state teaching certification in Special Education
• Additional certifications or endorsements in areas such as Autism Spectrum Disorders, Learning Disabilities, or Emotional Impairments are a plus
