Registered Nurse (RN)

Location: Andover, MA

Description: We are currently seeking a compassionate and dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join our school health services team in Andover, MA. As an RN in our school, you will play a vital role in promoting the health and well-being of students, providing direct care, health education, and support to ensure a safe and nurturing learning environment for all.

Responsibilities:

• Provide direct nursing care to students with acute or chronic health conditions, injuries, or illnesses during school hours.
• Assess and triage student health concerns, including injuries, illnesses, and medication management, and provide appropriate interventions and treatments.
• Administer medications and perform medical procedures as ordered by healthcare providers, following established protocols and guidelines.
• Monitor and manage student health records, including immunizations, medical histories, and individualized healthcare plans (IHPs), ensuring compliance with state regulations and school policies.
• Collaborate with parents, teachers, school administrators, and healthcare providers to develop and implement individualized healthcare plans and accommodations for students with special health needs.
• Conduct health screenings and assessments, such as vision and hearing screenings, and provide referrals for follow-up care as needed.
• Provide health education and counseling to students, families, and school staff on topics related to nutrition, hygiene, safety, and wellness promotion.
• Participate in the development and implementation of school-wide health initiatives, policies, and emergency preparedness plans.
• Maintain a safe and sanitary environment in the school health office, including proper storage and disposal of medical supplies and equipment.
• Adhere to professional standards of nursing practice and ethical guidelines, maintaining confidentiality of student health information and respecting students' rights and privacy.

Educational Requirements:

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree from an accredited nursing program required.
• Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Massachusetts.

Certifications:

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior experience working as a school nurse or in pediatric nursing preferred.
• Knowledge of state and federal regulations governing school health services and student health records.
• Strong assessment and clinical skills, with the ability to respond quickly and effectively to medical emergencies and health concerns.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with students, families, and members of the school community.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced environment.
