Assistant Dispatcher

Job Description

Solid Transportation is a family owned intermodal trucking company and they have been operating in the Northeast for over 10 years. They are looking to train a new Assistant Dispatcher to represent them in a professional manner to customers, vendors, drivers. This position will require working with other dispatch staff coordinating drivers schedules to ensure service & delivery goals are achieved within the designated time frame.

This position requires a self-motivated individual that is able to work as team player and perform multiple tasks. This person must be someone who pays attention to detail and is able to stay organized, who is energetic, enthusiastic and can stay calm under pressure.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Check in with drivers numerous times throughout the day to obtain their current status in making their appointments and make schedule changes when necessary.
• Advise customers and warehouses of delays.
• Communicates information and instructions to drivers informing them of a variety of situations that may impact their scheduled loads.
• Dispatch intermodal containers to truck drivers and working with Shipping lines and Port terminals insuring prompt delivery and pick ups.
• Notify customers and receive authorization prior to performing work of all extra charges.
• Complete container load plans throughout the day, notifying customers of all discrepancies.
• Review and update all dispatch activity with Operations manager.

Position Requirements :

• Must be able to communicate effectively
• Must be able to perform basic math skills accurately.
• Must possess moderate computer skills in Excel, Word, & Outlook.
• Solid organizational and communication skills with an eye for detail.
• Understanding of the intermodal trucking/transportation industry.

Further information:

Solid Transportation is looking for an intermediate to entry level employee person in the role of Assistant Dispatcher and to perform other office related tasks. You will be working with people with industry experience in small family business environment. It will provide an in-depth knowledge of the intermodal trucking business and provide opportunities for advancement. Salary will be revised once the applicant has been fully integrated and reached a level of job competency.

Job Type: Full-time (8am-5pm Monday to Friday)

• Pay: $22 to $25 per hour depending on experience (depending on your level of current experience).
• 1 weeks paid vacation (2 weeks after 1st year)
• 1 week paid sick leave
