POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Senior Director of Technical Solutions is a new role at Solomon Group. As the go-to technical expert and consultant, you will combine your technical design expertise with AV knowledge to drive clarity, integration, and utmost standards within our technical solutions department. Your team of Fabrication Technical Designers, Audiovisual Engineers & Programmers will work together to provide detailed build packages with well-integrated AV and lighting solutions for museum and corporate experiences around the world. Think of yourself as the glue aligning our fabrication and audiovisual experts, guiding the work, inspecting the deliverables listed below, and ensuring our work is thorough, smart, and flawless.

While leading the Technical Solutions Department, you will work in very close partnership with the Project Team responsible to consistently liaise with clients and provide project estimation.

POSITION DELIVERABLES :

• Consult to our clients and project teams during design development, informing the technical build and audiovisual/lighting strategy for the project.
• Lead the creation of the facility impact study for all projects: assessment of site, engineering and permit requirements, challenges, and opportunities to address. Create or oversee the creation of Solomon Group FI response.
• Ensure, as the lead communicator, a solid connection and collaboration within every project ecosystem- architects, general contractor, electrical contractor, owner’s representative- addressing permitting, engineering, ADA, and other project needs. Same accountability approach required for your team.
• This is a hands-on role; the Director, Technical Design (DTD) will own projects & deliverables in the day-to-day. This direct workload will be balanced against management, QA responsibilities to ensure successful outcomes.
• Lead your cross functional team (staff and freelance) on delivering:
• CAD sketches, as needed, to inform build estimating process.
• AV & Lighting one-liens D Tools based Bill of Materials to support estimating process.
• Mockup & testing as needed.
• Programming of AV Lighting controls: planning phase and onsite.
• Integrated Bid packages for outsource manufacturing partners.
• Integrated Build to Print packages for outsource manufacturing partners.
• Installation plans.
• Close out packages.
• Quality control of third-party providers (Build & AV): 25%, 50%, 90% onsite review.
• Quality assurance walkthrough during final project week: create internal punch, sign off on all work elements.
• Implement a work product review process for all listed deliverables: you own the inspection and approval for all.
• Oversee all current four full-time direct reports (staffing subject to change as we anticipate future growth) and manage a larger network of third parties and part-timers.

QUALIFICATI ONS:

• Industry expert: museums, corporate experiences, exhibits.
• Expertise in custom fabrication and Auto CAD engineering experience.
• Experience with audiovisual and lighting solutions integrated into custom fabrication.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Outstanding attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Familiarity with any or all the following is desired:
  • Architectural drawings and sites plans.
  • Audiovisual products and control systems.
  • Electrical lighting and control systems.
  • Metal fabrication.
  • Graphics & typography processes.
• Consulting experience in an agency environment a plus.
