Physical Education Teacher
The Solomon Schechter Day School of Greater Hartford is seeking an outstanding Physical Education teacher to join our faculty for the 2024 – 2025 academic year. Schechter uses a progressive multi-age educational model in which the teaching teams work together closely with each student and class. We welcome resumes from candidates with a deep knowledge of teaching Physical Education or Sports Coaching, understanding of children’s development, and the desire to work as a member of a team to enhance our multi-age school.
Job Status: part-time (approx. 45%)
Salary: $23,000-$25,000, based on experience
Responsibilities:
- Teaching Physical Education classes to students in the Early Childhood Center and in grades Kindergarten through eighth grade
- Developing and implementing a curriculum that includes learning the rules of sports and games, fitness, and team building
- Teaching health (based on qualifications)
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Experience teaching physical education or coaching
- Demonstrated ability to engage students and meet each student’s strengths and needs
- The ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues
- A passionate, student-centered approach to teaching
- Willingness to participate fully in the life of a vibrant school community
