POSITION SUMMARY:
The Human Resource Coordinator facilitates and aids in implementing human resource processes, including recruiting, onboarding, offboarding, and other key functions. This role also administers employee health and welfare plans and serves as a liaison between employees and insurance providers. This position resolves benefits-related problems and ensures effective plan use and positive employee relations.
The Human Resource Coordinator ensures that certain plans are administered in accordance with federal and state regulations and that plan provisions are followed. This role will function as administrative support to the human resource department as needed, including record-keeping, file maintenance, and HRIS entry.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Administers health and welfare plans, including enrollments, changes, and terminations. Processes required documents through payroll and insurance providers to ensure accurate record-keeping and proper deductions.
- Performs customer service functions by answering employee requests and questions.
- Completes Forms I-9, verifies I-9 documentation and maintains I-9 files.
- Assists with new-employee background checks and coordinates the required drug screenings.
- Reconciles benefits statements.
- Audits payroll items, benefits, or other HR programs and reports and inaccuracies to the Finance & HR Manager.
- Assists with the processing of terminations.
- Assists with the preparation of the performance review process.
- Assists with the recruitment and interview process. Responsible for tracking candidates' status in HRIS Responds to candidates with follow-up phone calls, emails, or letters during the recruiting process.
- Schedules, phone screenings, meetings, and interviews as requested by the director of HR.
- Assists with taking photocopies, scans, emails, and documents to ensure proper distribution and document management; performs other clerical functions as needed.
- Assists with the onboarding process as directed by the Finance & HR Manager.
- Assists or prepares correspondence as requested.
- Prepares new employee files.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
Education and Experience
- A minimum of 3 years' experience administering human resources policies and processes.
- Strong recruiting skills and demonstrated ability to improve talent acquisition strategies.
- In-depth knowledge and interpretation of HR disciplines, processes, policies, laws, and best practices.
- Working knowledge of federal, state, and local employee laws and regulations in multiple states.
- Hands-on experience administering payroll and HRIS systems.
- Experience administering benefits programs, including health and welfare insurance and 401k plans.

WORKING CONDITIONS
The position is located in a climate-controlled office environment during regular business hours. However, if the position requires traveling to/from various locations, it may be subject to inclement seasonal weather conditions.
