Solstice Innovations is Hiring a Software Quality Assurance Engineer Near Tampa, FL

Job DescriptionSUMMARY Software Quality Assurance (QA) engineer to develop and execute exploratory and automated tests to ensure product quality. SQA engineer responsibilities include designing and implementing tests, debugging and defining corrective actions. You will also review system requirements and track quality assurance metrics (e.g. defect densities and open defect counts.)
WHAT YOU WILL DO:The SQA engineer role plays an important part in our company’s product development process. The ideal engineer will be responsible for conducting tests before product launches to ensure software runs smoothly and meets client needs, while being cost-effective. Collaborating with Product Managers, Designers and other engineers to plan, design and implement business requirements with quality. The role will monitor all stages of software development to identify and resolve system malfunctions to meet quality standards.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
  • Participate in the entire application lifecycle, including on coding, testing, debugging and deployment
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers and developers
  • Review requirements, specifications and technical design documents to provide timely and meaningful feedback
  • Create detailed, comprehensive and well-structured test plans and test cases
  • Estimate, prioritize, plan and coordinate testing activities
  • Design, develop and execute automation scripts using software testing tools
  • Identify, record, document thoroughly and track bugs
  • Perform thorough regression testing when bugs are resolved
  • Develop and apply testing processes for new and existing products to meet client needs
  • Liaise with internal teams (e.g. developers and product managers) to identify system requirements
  • Monitor debugging process results
  • Investigate the causes of non-conforming software and train users to implement solutions
  • Track quality assurance metrics, like defect densities and open defect counts
  • Work with Leadership to identify solutions to defect root causes
  • Stay up-to-date with new testing tools and test strategies
  • Perform team lead or supervisory functions as needed
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor’s (Master’s Degree a plus) Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related disciplines is preferred. Five (5) plus years of software quality assurance experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Experience/Skills
  • Proven work experience in software quality assurance
  • In-depth understanding of the entire web development process (design, development and deployment)
  • Strong working knowledge of development, security, SDLC best practices
  • Strong knowledge of software QA methodologies, tools and processes
  • Experience in writing clear, concise and comprehensive test plans and test cases
  • Hands-on experience with both white box and black box testing
  • Hands-on experience with automated testing tools
  • Solid knowledge of SQL and scripting
  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development process
  • Experience with testing microservice architectures (APIs)
  • Experience with test driven development and testing tools, ie: Mocha, Chai
  • Experience with continuous integration and deployment tools, ie: Jenkins, Travis CI, Code Pipeline
  • Experience with performance and/or security testing is a plus
  • BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related subject
  • Excellent analytical and time management skills
  • Teamwork skills with a problem-solving attitude
Preferred Experience/Skills
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • History of working with Agile software development practices
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES (Preferred):
  • Certified Test Engineer (CSTE)
  • Certified Software Quality Analyst (CSQA)
  • Certified Associate in Software Testing (CAST)
  • CMSQ (Certified Manager of Software Quality)
  • ISTQB (International Software Testing Qualifications Board)

Excellent working knowledge of modern source control methods and software pipeline methods.
  • Team Work – Balances team and individual responsibilities; Able to build morale and group commitments to goals and objectives; Recognizes accomplishment of other team members.
  • Written Communication - Uses writing effectively to advance business aims, creates complex documents that achieve desired results, tailors writing style to the audience, and organizes and express complex ideas effectively; using graphics and other aids as needed.

Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management.
MATH ABILITY:Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Need to be able to demonstrate the ability to solve complex problems and must be comfortable with a high level of ambiguity.
