ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:The Media Specialist oversees the day to day responsibilities of the Library/Media Center and possesses the ability to implement a wide range of materials, technologies, and other information services in support of the school’s curriculum. Capstone & Internship Coordinator provides direct services to students by helping to determine appropriate Capstone topics and Internship opportunities based on interest and educational needs of students, identifying appropriate internship work sites, and providing supervision and coordination at the school site. The Capstone & Internship Coordinator will work collaboratively with teachers, students, families, work-site mentors and community partners in support of each student’s plan and career goals.PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:1.Ensure personnel and staff are utilizing the media center to actively engaged in the implementation of the school's curriculum and instructional practices2.Knowledge and ability to implement a wide range of materials, technologies, and other information services in support of the school's curriculum 3.Responsive to students’ interests and needs in order to support independent learning4.Work directly with students’ internship mentors and guidance counselors to determine student interests for Capstone & Internship educational experiences5.Establish community partnerships with area industry mentors to create educational internship experiences for students including, but not limited to, MassHire Workforce Board, One SouthCoast Chamber, Associates for Human Services: Taunton Area School to Career.6.Identify and prepare internship mentors to provide work-based internship learning experiences for students.7.Accompany students to worksites for interviews and job shadowing experiences8.Support students with new employee orientations and their transition to the new work-based internship learning environment.9.Continuous monitoring, documenting, and supporting students during work-based internships.10.Supervise the work-based internship experience11.Maintain appropriate student records, including work-based internship training agreements, performance assessments and profiles, grade reports, attendance records, DESE required data reporting, and other related documentation.12.Establish with students, families & internship sites clear expectations for interns.13.Serve as a liaison for effective communication between students, families, teachers, internship mentors.14.In collaboration with students, assist and advise internship mentors with accommodations and adaptation of the work environment to meet the individual needs of each student, if required.15.Provide or coordinate support (instructional and internship) consistent with the student’s needs.16.Evaluate internship sites and work-based experiences ensuring appropriateness.17.Provide internship placement support to complete each student’s plan in an appropriate timeframe.18.Assist in the documentation of all key processes and procedures related to the position.19.Principal may assign other related duties or tasks on an as-needed basis.
