Sompo is Hiring an AVP, Commercial Auto Operations Manager (R1902) Near Morristown, NJ

We are seeking an AVP, Commercial Auto Operations Manager based out of our Charlotte, NC or Morristown, NJ offices. This position will report directly into and assist the SVP Head of North America Insurance Operations. This position will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth functioning of our commercial auto operations and adherence to regulatory requirements.

You will be responsible for documenting systems requirements and providing support for all bureau reporting, with a focus on the various Departments of Transportation and familiarity with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. Your analytical skills, technical expertise, and understanding of commercial auto guidelines will be instrumental in optimizing our operations, streamlining processes, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Process and Workflow Optimization:
  • Analyze business processes and workflows to recommend and implement process improvements that enhance efficiency and data accuracy.
  • Identify operational inefficiencies and bottlenecks in Commercial Auto processes and propose innovative solutions for improvement.
  • Collaborate with various teams to implement process changes and monitor their effectiveness.
  • Systems Requirements Documentation and Testing:
  • Work closely with IT and business stakeholders to identify and document system requirements related to workers' compensation operations.
  • Develop comprehensive system documentation, including functional specifications, test plans, and user manuals as needed.
  • Participate with internal functional areas as appropriate throughout the development, testing, and implementation processes.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting:
  • Utilize data analysis tools and techniques to extract meaningful insights from workers' compensation data.
  • Generate reports and present findings to stakeholders, making data-driven recommendations for process enhancements.
  • Bureau Reporting Support:
  • Support the timely and accurate submission of all bureau reports, ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to collect necessary data and information for reporting purposes.
  • Conduct thorough audits and data validation to maintain data integrity in bureau reports.
  • Regulatory and Risk Monitoring and Support:
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in commercial auto regulations and other industry-related developments.
  • Ensure that our commercial auto operations adhere to all relevant state and federal regulations, as well as internal policies.
  • Assist in compliance and other audits where needed. Work with Internal Audit to monitor potential operational risk deficiencies and identify ways to mitigate the exposures.

Qualifications and skills:

  • Minimum 7-10 years’ experience in management of Operations
  • Knowledge of Property/Casualty Commercial Auto lines of coverage is a must
  • Must have strong computer skills (Microsoft office – Excel, Visio, PowerPoint etc.).
  • Demonstrated ability to provide business perspective in large, complex, multi-disciplinary systems implementation projects.
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making abilities; strong work ethic & energetic
  • Analytical, decision making and resource management skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment is essential; sense of urgency required.
  • Ability to establish priorities, anticipate problems, know and communicate the status of assignments to involved parties
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong commitment to providing superior client service

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience preferred
  • Pursuit of ongoing educational designations related to the Insurance Industry preferred
