SompoRe has a unique opportunity for a Reinsurance Claims Processor within our Reinsurance Claims team.

SompoRe is a global professional claims organization seeking a candidate responsible for the analysis, data processing and segmentation of proportional and excess of loss reinsurance claims.

Responsibilities include, assisting with triage, processing initial notices of loss, status reports, closing notices and financial transactions into Guidewire. The candidate will work closely with the Reinsurance Processing Team to ensure incoming transactions are processed in accordance with department standards.

Location: The Candidate would be working from our New York City, Purchase, NY, Garden City, NY, or Morristown, NY Offices and reports to VP, General Liability Claims manager. What you’ll be doing:

• Responsible for the triaging of reported claims and tasking the correspondence to the proper claim handler with appropriate labels and categories. Research contracts in Polaris to ensure claims are assigned to the proper reinsurance agreement.
• Data entry of newly reported claims into Claim Center within department time standard. Ensure all proportional Catastrophe claims are coded and tracked in Claim Center.
• Ensure all correspondence reported to Sompo Re is managed in a timely manner and assigned to claim handlers with relevant tasks.
• Correspond with brokers via email regarding unpaid balance reports, improperly reported claims or request additional information related to transactions for claims correspondence.
• Process financial transactions for payments, reserves and reinstatement premiums.
• Interact with management to suggest workflow efficiencies.

What you’ll bring:

• Minimum of 1 to 3 years of related claims work experience in the processing/data entry, preferably in a commercial reinsurance/insurance carrier.
• Works well in an interactive team structure that requires flexibility and cooperation.
• Communicates clearly and succinctly whether in oral or written form; effectively communicates in a variety of settings - formal and informal; attentive and active listener; straightforward and composed. Maintains high attention to detail with diligence to learn and apply logic. Negotiates with others and addresses differences of opinion, resolves conflicts in ways that are respectful to others, while advocating for best possible outcome.
• Familiarity with Guidewire and ImageRight are a plus.
• Ability to establish and maintain close working relationship with Claims technical team and Reinsurance processing team.

Salary Range: $50,000 – $75,000 Actual compensation for this role will depend on several factors including the cost of living associated with your work location, your qualifications, skills, competencies, and relevant experience.
