Sompo has an unique opportunity as an Underwriting Technician to support our Commercial Specialty Property team.

Our Commercial Specialty Property – U.S. and Canada team offers property coverage to commercial accounts with a focus on midsize to large domestic and U.S. domiciled multinational companies with a proactive approach to risk management. What you’ll be doing:

• Assists underwriters with reviewing submissions, rating accounts, drafting quotes, binders, policies, endorsements and initiates, completes and sends quote letters to brokers
• Perform underwriting analysis, complete risk reports and prepare all policies in accordance with final binders inclusive of review by underwriting staff
• Codes, bills, registers, processes and distribute insurance invoices, binders, policies and endorsement within processing standards established by leadership
• Provide support for file audits by maintaining files and conducting file reviews, QA/QC as needed
• Returns of calls and e-mails promptly and in all cases, within 24 hours of receipt
• Provides back up support to other Underwriting Technicians as necessary and performs other special projects as assigned

What you’ll bring:

• Minimum of 3 years of underwriting support experience
• Ability to effectively communicate information and ideas to drive our business
• Technical capabilities such as Microsoft Office Suite, NitroPro, and ImageRight
• Exhibit the ability to learn and understand industry-specific terminology and coverages
• Ability to identify problems, provide solutions and multi-task while demonstrating attention to detail

Salary Range: $55,000 – $95,000 Actual compensation for this role will depend on several factors including the cost of living associated with your work location, your qualifications, skills, competencies, and relevant experience.

Our compensation program is built on a foundation that promotes a pay-for-performance culture, resulting in higher incentive awards, on average, when the Company does well and lower incentive awards when the Company underperforms. The total compensation opportunity for all regular, full-time employees is a combination of base salary and incentives that gets adjusted upfront based on overall Company performance with final awards based on individual performance.
