Shift: Day shift Monday – Friday 8 – 10 hours per day, shift times TBD

While reporting to the plant manager you will work in production for our converted paper products division and be responsible for working in a quick and safe manner. Excellent attendance is crucial for the team to achieve success. You must have a proven record of success in a fast-paced environment. You must have the ability to work with various teams and have a good eye to spot defects in the packing line. You will take pride in your personal hands-on and analytical abilities, organizational skills and attention to detail.

What you’ll be doing:

• Fills a variety of roles in production operations as needed.
• Sets up, operates, and maintains production equipment or machinery.
• Prepares, inspects, or measures materials.
• Checks components for compliance with tolerances or specifications; performs finish work.
• Packages, stores, and ships completed goods. Performs work under general supervision.
• Evaluates and enforces site Environmental Health and Safety Programs and ensures compliance with applicable state and federal laws, as well as company policies and procedures.
• Continually trains, educates, and refreshes all facility employees on safe work practices, policies, procedures, standards and reporting related to safety, environmental and health.

• Demonstrate functional/technical knowledge on OSHA regulations safety processes and procedures such as injury/illness recordkeeping, confined space entry, LOTO, and other safety work practices.
• Strong communication skills
• Demonstrated oral/written communication skills: presents information and ideas to individuals or groups in an articulate and organized way, appropriate to the audience, and under a wide range of communication situations.
• Must be able to drive or learn to drive a forklift to move carts, pallets, supplies and to load/unload truck
• The ability to follow work instructions is required.
• The ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds is required. The ability to stand and/or walk up to 90% of the time is required
• Ability to work as part of a team
• Performing all duties in support of Sonoco’s quality and safety policies
