Position: Quality Technician
Location: Dekalb, IL
Wage: $20.96 - $24.85 ( Depending on experience )
Shift: 2nd Shift (4 days 10 hours)
*Training for 90 days on 1st shift*

While reporting to the Manager, as a Quality Technician, you will be responsible for ensuring quality expectations of every customer, both internal and external are met or exceeded. Safety, quality, productivity and strong work ethic are important to the Sonoco culture.
What You’ll Be Doing
  • Analyze SPC data, customer feedbacks, in-house rejection, process capability data, for trends and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct process capability studies as required.
  • Achieve Blue Belt certification.
  • Assist in the development of Quality Action Plans.
  • Analyze all customer feedbacks for trends and continuous improvement.
  • Train plant personnel in the quality system.
  • Maintain customer property.
  • Maintain process for document control.
  • Gather data and report on Customer Satisfaction for plant.
  • Assist in determining plant quality objectives.
  • Act as ISO representative for plant and ensure ISO certifiable/certified status.
  • Assist in managing supplier issues.
  • Ensure processes needed for quality management system are established, implemented and maintained.
  • Facilitate improvement/corrective action teams.
  • Where applicable, manage the food safety team and organize its work, ensure relevant training and education of the food safety team members, ensure the food safety management system is established, implemented, maintained and updated, and report to the organization's top management on the effectiveness and suitability of the food safety management system
  • Active involvement in quality activities including regional staff and review meetings.

  • You possess at least 2 years quality experience
  • Packing and warehousing experience is extremely helpful
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for long periods of time
  • Works overtime as required
  • Able to collaborate effectively with all employees
