Position SummarySony Corporation of America (SCA) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director, Data Analytics to take on a leadership role in leveraging the power of data to overcome business challenges and drive business growth. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in communicating with the business teams of Sony group companies, effectively explaining the significance and advantages of data utilization through tangible business use cases. This will contribute to Sony's transformation into a data-driven company.
This position will be on a Hybrid schedule with 2 days per week in our Los Angeles, CA office location.Job ResponsibilitiesLeadership and Team Management:
  • Lead and inspire a team of data analysts to leverage the power of data and drive business success.
  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to team members to foster their professional growth.
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture that encourages innovation and continuous improvement.
Strategic Planning and Execution:
  • Develop and execute a data analytics strategy aligned with the overall business goals and objectives.
  • Identify and prioritize analytics initiatives that have the potential to deliver significant business value.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand their needs and challenges and translate them into actionable analytics themes and activities.
Stakeholder Engagement and Relationship Management:
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key business stakeholders across Sony group companies.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to business teams, providing insights and recommendations based on data analysis.
  • Communicate the importance and benefits of data utilization in a clear and compelling manner to business stakeholders.
Analytics Community Development:
  • Establish and lead an analytics community to facilitate knowledge sharing, collaboration, and best practice sharing among data analysts in different group companies.
  • Organize regular community meetings, workshops, and training sessions to enhance the skills and capabilities of the analytics team.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the analytics community.
Qualifications For PositionExtensive Experience:
  • 10 years of experience with a proven track record of success in both data analytics and business domains, preferably in a leadership role.
  • Demonstrated experience in leveraging data to drive business insights and outcomes for at least three years.
  • Proven track record of consulting with stakeholders to understand the business model, objectives, issues, and challenges that analytics can support.
  • Strong understanding of data analytics methodologies, tools, and techniques.
Team Leadership and Management:
  • Demonstrated ability to build and manage high-performing cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills to motivate and inspire team members.
  • Ability to foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture.
Stakeholder Engagement
  • Strong ability to establish and maintain relationships with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills to effectively convey complex data insights to business stakeholders.
  • Proven experience
Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in data handling tools such as SQL and experience with BI tools like Tableau or Power BI for at least three years.
  • Ability to understand and explain from a business perspective what is being invoked by SQL code and the returned data set.
Business Domain Knowledge:
  • In-depth understanding of the gaming, music, and entertainment industries.
  • Knowledge of industry-specific data sources, metrics, and trends.
  • Ability to apply domain knowledge to drive data-driven strategies and initiatives.

The anticipated annual base salary for this position is $190,000 to $200,000. This range does not include any other compensation components or other benefits that an individual may be eligible for. The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
