About the Role Our client is recruiting a Jr. Operating Partner / Associate to join the firm as a member of the Operating Partner team. They have invested heavily in developing a proprietary methodology that allows them to effectively partner with portfolio company management teams, creating an overall strategy and providing best practices in five key areas including top line growth initiatives, strategy, operating excellence, transactional improvement and human capital initiatives. This position will collaborate with the investment teams, portfolio company management teams and Boards of Directors to champion business improvements, value creation and professionalization. The position will focus primarily on investments where the firm is the control equity investor. Responsibilities:
Partner with the investment teams and portfolio company management teams to maximize value creation.
Build successful relationships with portfolio management teams to establish trust and credibility; collaborate with portfolio management teams to champion improvements or modify management efforts.
Coordinate the execution of growth initiatives, including resource identification, to ensure a successful project delivery.
Expand the firm's 3rd party vendors and consultants; streamline efforts to hire and manage 3rd party vendors/consultants.
Develop and maintain relationships and recommend vendors for assignments; track representative work, costs and create a metric to track effectiveness.
Identify and execute on cross-portfolio initiatives to leverage best practices, capitalize on synergies, increase revenue, improve operations, strengthen financial controls and deploy cost savings opportunities across multiple portfolio companies
Perform primary research for new potential investments
Provide ongoing monitoring of assets with the firm's portfolios including review of monthly operating results and maintaining project performance
Establish and maintain relationship with industry, trade and professional organizations to enhance visibility of the firm and its portfolio companies in the marketplace
Qualifications:
3 years of experience earned in leadership positions within growth oriented middle-market businesses.
Background providing consulting or consulting type services to growth oriented middle-market businesses. Diversity of industry exposure a plus.
Proven problem solving skills with significant and broad exposure to strategy, business planning, human capital alignment initiatives, revenue growth and operational change management.
Proven experience working in an autonomous environment; must be self-directed and have tremendous drive to execute in both a timely and efficient manner.
Successful experience working "behind the scenes" and supporting the success of others.
Willingness to rollup sleeves and add "real" value as part of a team or as an individual contributor.
Strong relationship builder. High EQ.
Excellent written and verbal communication with prior experience influencing without formal authority.
Bachelor's degree required; technical or operations preferred, MBA a plus.
