Temp/Part-time Alternative Health Care Medical Assistant

Sound Holistic Health Clinic is hiring a temporary part-time certified Medical Assistant to fill in while our current MA is on maternity leave. Retired MA or newly certified MA might find this position works well to make extra money or gain additional experience while looking for a full time position. There is a possibility of continuing employment after our full time MA returns.

Medical Assistant Job Duties Might Include:

• Room and interview patients, measure vital signs, and accurately record information in EHR while working closely with the providers
• Clean and prepare exam/procedure rooms between patient visits
• Administer BEMER medical device sessions as trained and directed
• Administer injections as directed by doctors
• Prepare lab and blood draw paperwork for phlebotomist and providers; assist in other administrative tasks relating to labs, blood draws, injections, and prescriptions
• Fulfill clerical responsibilities as assigned that may include sending/receiving patient medical records; completing forms/requisitions as needed; verifying insurance coverage and patient demographics; managing and updating charts to ensure that information is complete and filed appropriately
• Provide care team coverage including, answering phones, scheduling appointments, checking in/out patients
• Maintain patient confidentiality according to HIPAA & clinic standards
• Assist providers with EHR documentation as required

Medical Assistant Skills and Qualifications:

• Certified Medical Assistant currently licensed in State of Washington
• Reliable, punctual, and motivated to assist our patients and care providers
• Knowledge of medical terminology and basic anatomy/physiology
• Maintain a smooth patient flow with a priority on keeping the appointment schedule on time
• Exhibit genuine compassion/empathy with the ability to connect with people in a meaningful way
• Remain flexible and willing to deviate from a process or project to quickly assist patients, physicians or other staff as needed
• Demonstrate professional, friendly, and effective interpersonal communication skills
• Display strong problem-solving and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks
• Ability to accurately and completely prepare records in accordance with detailed instructions
• Experience using a practice management program that includes payment processing a plus
• Experience, knowledge, or interest in alternative health care a big plus

Hours and Compensation

• Flexible schedule: Tuesday-Friday 8:30am-7:00pm with potential 7am Thursday start time
• 20-30 hrs /week from ~ August 5 through the last half of October, with potential for additional employment after this time frame.
• $22 - $26/hr, commensurate with experience and education
