JOB TITLE: GROUP LEADER
REPORTS TO: Program Director (Site Coordinator)
PROGRAM: AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAMS/Summer Rising Programs
DEPARTMENT: School-Based Programs
POSITION: PART TIME
SALARY RANGE: $16 -$18, PART TIME

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Manage a group of youth and provide homework assistance
• Develop and implement project-based lesson plans and activities in area of expertise that enrich academic learning, as well as foster and develop social and emotional skills for students
• Assist with facilitating Science/Literacy/Math based projects for youth
• Lead and assist in all activities such as snack, dismissal, academic and extra-curricular activities
• Attend community service projects, events and chaperone field trips etc.
• Provide opportunities for students to showcase work
• Maintain accurate participant attendance, activity and sign-out records
• Document student progress and behavior
• Uphold program policies and procedures and proper use of supplies and materials
• Maintain classroom cleanliness and organization
• Attend staff meetings, professional development workshops (minimum 30 hours) and program events
• Be willing to create and facilitate lesson plans in person and remotely via google classroom, zoom and any platform that is needed to operate program
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director

Qualifications and Other Responsibilities:

• High School Diploma/Associates’ degree(required) in child development, elementary/secondary education, physical education, recreation or a related field; Bachelors’ degree preferred
• Two years direct experience working with children under the age of 13 years
• Experience working with under-served populations and in after-school settings
• Exceptional interpersonal, and superior written and oral communication skills

• Knowledge of NYC DOH/OCFS Part 414 regulations, DOE’s Chancellor’s Regulations and Common

Core Standards

• Must have State Central Review (SCR), Staff Exclusion List (SEL) and Criminal Background clearance and all additional DOH clearances prior to employment, as well as maintaining background clearance throughout employment
• Must have Medical Clearance within two weeks of employment

COVID-19 On-Site Safety Regulations:

• Must have COVID-19 Vaccination.
• All staff must wear a mask or face covering at all times and be prepared to undergo school’s safety regulation upon entering the building daily.
• School or Site may require staff to get tested weekly, or monthly and you must adhere to continue work at that particular site location.
• Get familiar with COVID-19 school health policy for programs inside of school buildings
• Promote behaviors that reduce spread such as distancing, wearing face coverings and adhering to signage and floor markings
• Maintain healthy environment and cleanliness such as keeping hands clean, building space usage and disinfecting all on a consistent basis
• Recognize symptoms and be prepared to report
• Obey COVID-19 school model and regulations and program schedule based on regulations

Hours

• School-Year- Monday-Friday, 2:00 p.m. through 6:00 p.m. or 16-20 hours per week
• Summer Hours: Monday -Friday, Ranges between hours of 8:00am to 6:00pm; up to 35 hours per week.
• Occasional weekend and evening hours

Must provide 1-2 activities.
Example: Art, Dance, STEM, Leadership, Sports, STEP, Girls/Boys Group, Drama, Poetry, Music etc.

• Are you available from at least from 2:00pm to 6:00 pm DAILY on Monday through Friday? Please be advised, extra hours maybe available at this specific location. Summer Programming Hiring has begun, please inquire further details- Required availability for summer Monday through Friday 8:00AM TO 6:00 PM.
