About Midlands Regional Center

Midlands Regional Center is a residential facility of the South Carolina Department of Disabilities and Special Needs located in Columbia, SC serving residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Job Responsibilities:
Under the general supervision of the Facility Administrator and provides specialized administrative support for the Facility Administrator. Serves as the liaison between the Facility Administrator, Executive Committee, and general public. Maintains coverage at all times for Administrative employees in the Administration Building. Coordinates contracts with professional services.Serves as the liaison between the Facility Administrator, Executive Committee, and general public. Maintains the Facility Administrator's calendar and coordinates all meetings. Drafts and distributes minutes from Executive committee monthly meetings. Answers phone calls and directs calls to appropriate areas. Performs administrative duties of Family Council. Creates and maintains the Center's newsletter. Serves as back-up for HRC meetings. Keeps Facility Administrator updated on Center's activities.
Ensures all Midlands Center Internal Procedures and Directives are updated and posted on the Center's Share Drive. Gathers data from Executive staff for reports as needed, ensuring timely completion. Prepares all required reports during and after SC DPH certification and licensing surveys as needed. Prepares, revises, and distributes Annual Emergency Preparedness Program information, to include sheltering agreements with other regional centers.
Assists in ensuring personnel actions for Executive staff are timely. Maintains time and attendance records for Medical Director, Part-time Physician, Nurse Practitioner, and Dentist.
Ensures timely implementation of the Employee of the Month, Quarter and Year. Coordinates and maintains all campus contacts with relevant professional services. Maintains and updates Center's Telephone Directory. Assists with employee appreciation events.
Completes other duties as assigned.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

State Minimum Requirements: A high school diploma and work experience that is directly related to the area of employment. A bachelor's degree may be substituted for the related work experience.
Institutions of Higher Learning must be recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.
Agency Additional Requirements: High School diploma and seven (7) years of administrative work experience. An Associates Degree with four (4) years of administrative experience. A Bachelor's Degree may be substituted for the related work experience.

State Disaster Plan: In accordance with the State's Disaster Plan, which includes hazardous weather, DDSN employees may be required to work in times of an emergency or disaster.
