Job ResponsibilitiesThe SC Department Agriculture is seeking a dynamic individual to add to our Retail Food Safety team! A few of the responsibilities of this position include:
Conducting statewide evaluation, standardization, and training of regional food protection staff.
Assisting with implementation of Regulation 61-25, including the development of standard operating procedures, fact sheets, and marking guides.
Performing evaluation of employee performance through data analysis and by conducting standardization and audits of retail food protection staff within the required time frames.
Providing programmatic consultation and assistance with training food service industry, personnel, and other interested persons to ensure optimal level of knowledge, skills, and abilities to meet program objectives.
Acting as FDA Standard for the state program.
Being responsible for assisting in the development of internal, and industry guidance documents to ensure uniform interpretation and application of Regulation 61-25.
Providing programmatic consultation to food service industry, personnel, and other interested persons.

Minimum And Additional Requirements
A bachelor’s degree in the natural or physical sciences or related technical field; OR
An associate degree in the natural or physical sciences or related technical field and three (3) years of environmental health or related experience; OR
A high school diploma and five (5) years of environmental health or related experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience or knowledge in food protection and sanitation and thorough knowledge of applicable state and federal food laws and regulations.
Knowledge of environmental health regulations.
Current FDA Standard certification Data management skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft office professional (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
Experience using tablets and other electronic equipment in a field environment.
Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage time effectively.

Able to provide outstanding customer service in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and encourage positive working relationships with coworkers, industry, and government officials.
Capable of working independently in a field environment.
Ability to successfully complete prescribed technical coursework and pass any test relevant to the position within the probationary period or trial period.
Significant daily throughout South Carolina.
Frequent overnight travel.
Participation on the Environmental Response Team and subject to on call or call back 24/7.
