South Carolina Department of Transportation is Hiring a Building Grounds Specialist III (61035702) Near Williamsburg, SC
Job ResponsibilitiesPlans and conducts scheduled custodial work to include but not limited to cleaning offices, rooms, hallways, lobbies, rest rooms, elevators and stairways. Sweeps, mops, scrubs, waxes and polishes floors. Plans and conducts scheduled grounds keeping work to include mowing lawns, raking leaves and keeping grounds free of debris. Plants, fertilizers, trims and waters lawns, flowers, shrubbery and trees. Maintains supplies necessary for the cleaning and upkeep of the office and facilities (indoor and outdoor) Ensures supplies are requested/ordered. Disposes of trash and waste in the proper area/containers. Assists with emergency and inclement weather operations, may include extended hours and/or 12 hour shifts.
Minimum And Additional RequirementsA high school diploma and six (6) months of custodial or grounds keeping experience directly related to the area of employment; or an approved acceptable equivalence. The physical demands for the essential functions involves bending, stooping reaching, twisting, climbing, balancing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and grasping. Must be able to lift up to 50lbs. Walking for extended periods, treading rough terrain, working in close proximity to motoring traffic, and in natural environmental hazards. May be required to work hours outside the normal scheduled work week; especially during inclement weather and/or other departmental related emergencies.
