Plant Operations-General Mechanic

JOB SUMMARY

BASIC FUNCTION:
Responsible for the installation, repair, and maintenance of a variety of general electrical
and mechanical equipment.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Read blueprints, plans, and documents to determine the requirements for equipment
installation and repair
2. Performs minor repairs on electrical and mechanical equipment such as changing
light switches, receptacles, light bulbs, ballasts, fan belts, etc.
3. Performs minorrepairs on building features and furnishings such as replacing broken
window panes, repairing locks, replacing damaged ceiling tile, etc.
4. Performs preventive maintenance tasks on equipment
5. Submits requests for maintaining a sufficient level of basic supplies for the timely
completion of routine tasks and special projects
6. Maintains equipment in good work ordering
7. Keeps work areas clean, orderly, and safe
8. Maintains established department policies, procedures, and quality standards
9. Appropriately informs departmental management of any problems relating to their
work or with any other areas
10. Performs other duties as required or assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High School Diploma or its equivalent
Experience: Three (3) years of proven relevant general maintenance experience at the
Journeyman level, preferably in the healthcare or related industry,
preferred, or minimal relevant experience which demonstrates the potential
to progressively develop to the Journeyman skill level
Physical Demands: Heavy physical effort (lift and carry up to 50 pounds)
Prolonged, extensive, or considerable standing and walking
Pushes and pulls and/or moves and lifts heavy equipment and
supplies
Manual dexterity and mobility
Considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouchin

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Work Experience MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :Must have Valid Mississippi Driver's License Education: High School Diploma or its equivalent Experience: Three (3) years of proven relevant general maintenance experience at the Journeyman level, preferably in the healthcare or related industry ,preferred, or minimal relevant experience which demonstrates the potential to progressively develop to the Journeyman skill level Physical Demands: Heavy physical effort (lift and carry up to 50 pounds)Prolonged, extensive, or considerable standing and walking Pushes and pulls and/or moves and lifts heavy equipment and supplies Manual dexterity and mobility Considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching
