South Coast Lumber Co. was established in 1950 in Brookings, Oregon. As a family-owned company represented by four generations, we prioritize safety and sustainability for our employees. Our mills (2) are located within the Brookings, Oregon area. We have a sawmill and veneer plant located on the north side of town while our plywood mill and LVL mill are right in the middle of town. We also have two distribution locations, one in Merlin, Oregon, and the other outside of Eureka, California. We continue to invest and innovate our operations to meet market demand while providing reliable family-wage jobs within our communities.

Job Summary: Our Bookkeeper role entails a combination of receptionist and bookkeeping responsibilities, serving as one of the faces of our headquarters in Brookings. We are seeking an individual with exceptional proficiency in Microsoft Excel, strong customer service skills, and high attention to detail.

Compensation: DOE (depends on experience).

Responsibilities:

• Accurately update, file, and maintain accounting records.
• Enter account data from sourced documents in an efficient manager.
• Post transactions and reconcile balance sheet accounts.
• Prepare recurring and non-recurring journal entries and routine reporting packages.
• Greet visitors and vendors, answer phones, and promptly notify appropriate staff members of arrivals in a timely manner.
• Collaborate with senior office staff to support in-office responsibilities as needed.
• Analyze transactions, collaborate with stakeholders, and assist with various projects as required.

Required Qualifications:

• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Detail-oriented, organized, dependable, and independent.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Background in bookkeeping, finance, or accounting.
• Associates Degree or better in Accounting or a related field.
• 3-4 years of proven experience in a similar role.
• Manufacturing experience is advantageous.
