Are you passionate about physics and skilled in coordinating laboratory operations? Are you interested in managing and teaching physics laboratories? We are seeking a dedicated Physics Laboratory Coordinator and Lecturer to join our team and support our faculty in delivering high-quality undergraduate physics education. This position is located in Brookings, South Dakota and is a 12-month, full-time, benefits-eligible position.
The physics program is within the Department of Chemistry, Biochemistry and Physics and provides students with a solid foundation in scientific disciplines through challenging coursework, laboratory explorations and research opportunities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist the faculty in the setup of equipment and supplies for undergraduate physics laboratories (approximately 40 laboratory sections in four courses per semester).
  • Coordinate laboratory sections, working with graduate student instructors.
  • Flexibly teach laboratory courses for the department when needed.
  • Anticipate laboratory needs and order supplies vital to completion of undergraduate physics laboratories.
  • Assist with classroom demonstrations.
  • Communicate physics and related procedures to students regarding various procedures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master's degree in Physics or Engineering;
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences;
  • Ability to coordinate and effectively work with teaching faculty; and
  • Effective organizational, time management, and record keeping skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • At least 18 graduate level credits in Physics; and
  • Teaching experience.
