POSITION SUMMARY

The Injury Prevention Coordinator for the Department of Trauma coordinates injury prevention, community and professional outreach education, and program development activities. The Injury Prevention Coordinator is responsible for the hands-on, day-to-day management and support of all prevention activities, strategic planning and assisting with budgetary needs of the department. The IP Coordinator will serve as the liaison with local public health staff, other professionals and community-based organizations, and first responder and/or government agencies. The work involves extensive public contact and the Injury Prevention Coordinator represents SGMC Department of Trauma and is expected to work with considerable independence, with broad responsibility for program implementation. The position reports directly to the Trauma Program Manager and Trauma Medical Director.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Current RN license in the State of Georgia.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred.
  • Current CPR (C) certification.
  • ACLS, PALS and/or ENPC required.
  • TNCC and PHTLS Instructor required within 6 months of hire
  • CEN preferred
  • Three (3) years of clinical experience related to trauma care required.
  • Three (3) years of leadership/supervisory experience preferred.
  • Ability to lead and develop others individually and as a team, and to be an effective team member.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess and adapt to new situations, critically think and analyze, utilize problem solving techniques, and set priorities.
  • Demonstrated skill in verbal, non-verbal and behavioral communication.
  • Demonstrated current knowledge of patient care, leadership, and emergency trauma principles.
  • Ability to operate clinical equipment, and office equipment such as computers, telecommunications devices, etc.
  • Ability to develop and follow through with new workflow processes and trauma program goals.
  • Proficient in development of new program initiatives or educational programs.
  • Must possess excellent public speaking skills.

WORKING CONDITIONS - ADA INFORMATION

Works in acute care hospital, predominately daytime, weekday, with flexibility to work all three shifts as needed to meet the scheduling needs of injury prevention programs and initiatives. Considerable sitting, standing, stooping, bending, lifting (in excess of fifty (50) lbs.), pushing objects (e.g., carts, beds). May occasionally require long, irregular or flexible work hours. Likely to be exposed blood and body fluids, including infectious diseases. Mental effort to assess, plan, and make or recommend decisions in complex environment. Work during exposure to inclement weather conditions may also present.
