South Shore Skin Center is seeking a Part-Time MOHS Histotechnician to support our Norwell & Plymouth practice locations.  The Histotechnician is responsible for assisting the Mohs surgeon during the grossing of specimens; process, embed, cut and stain tissue specimens. In addition, the Histotechnician is responsible for maintaining laboratory equipment and cleanliness of the laboratory area.

This is a part time position Monday, Tuesday & Thursday from 7:45 am to 1 pm

Compensation: Competitive Hourly Rate (based on experience) paid bi-weekly part-time benefits package including PTO, 401K match, etc..

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: To perform this job, an individual must perform each essential function satisfactorily with or without a reasonable accommodation.

• Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of technical aspects in the areas of histology, laboratory techniques and quality control.
• Demonstrates ability to embed, cut, stain, and mount tissue specimens following established policies and procedures and laboratory standards.

• Regular and reliable attendance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education:

• An earned associate degree in a chemical or biological science or medical laboratory technology, obtained from an accredited institution.
• 60 semester hours or equivalent from an accredited institution. This education must include 24 semester hours of medical laboratory technology courses OR 24 semester hours of science courses that includes 6 semester hours of chemistry, 6 semester hours of biology and 12 hours of chemistry, biology or medical laboratory technology in any combination.

Experience:

• Minimum or 1 year working experience with Mohs

Certifications & Licenses:

• Histotechnologist (HTL, ASCP) or Histotechnician (HT, ASCP) certification
• Technology Applications: Proficient in Microsoft Applications

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

• Laboratory work environment with exposure to various chemicals and equipment.
• Prolonged sitting, frequent walking, standing, bending, stooping and lifting up to fifty (50) pounds.
• Safety equipment and personal protective equipment provided and required. Requires normal range of hearing and manual dexterity enough to operate office and laboratory equipment.
• Noise level in the work environment is typical for an office and/or medical clinic environment.
• Minimum travel (up to 10%) by land and/or air.
