Salary: Depends on Qualifications Location : Cape Girardeau, MO Job Type: Full-Time Remote Employment: Flexible/Hybrid Job Number: 202300366 Division: Finance and Administration Department: Accounting Services Opening Date: 12/12/2023 Position Summary Budget Analyst Budget Office Full Time: Hybrid/remote work opportunities available for this position (Must reside in MO, IA, AR, KS, KY, TN, IL, or FL) Primary Responsibilities
Prepares and maintains the budget documents for the University and affiliated auxiliaries
Maintains and monitors position control systems for all University and auxiliary personnel
Supports regular financial planning and analysis for unit/department level activities as well as at college, divisional, and campus levels
Computes and analyzes additional employee costs and savings due to voluntary leave without pay, overtime and/or part time employment, FICA savings due to pre-tax benefits, supplement costs for additional medical coverage, etc
Prepares financial data for the annual state budget request utilizing the Banner Finance System, University's data warehouse, Access database, and Excel
Completes ad hoc projects and reports as requested
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business-related field; Degree in business management is a plus
Minimum of 2 years of experience in public sector, non-profit, and/or government-related entity; Experience in higher education is a plus
Demonstrated understanding of basic accounting concepts
Demonstrated understanding of budgeting concepts
Experience with data management systems
Evidence of experience creating and modifying complicated Access queries and reports
Strong mathematical and analytical skills
Proficiency working with an Enterprise Resource Planning System; Ellucian Banner ERP experience is a plus
Proficient in use of Microsoft Office
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Excellent organizational skills
Ability to handle multiple tasks with frequent interruptions
Demonstrated experience and understanding of customer service
