Basic Function:

The Registered Nurse in Surgery is responsible for delivery of patient care under the leadership of the nurse director. Provides and supervises nursing care appropriate to the age of the patients and their respective levels of growth & development served on assigned unit.Maintains the standards of professional nursing and patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, the environment/instrumentation, and collaboration with other health care team members.Provides teaching and activities for the patients and personnel. Maintains and improves the quality of nursing care and patient safety according to approved standards, procedures and policies in the best interest of patients, visitors, physicians, associates, community and SEORMC.

Minimum qualifications:

•  Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
• Current State of Ohio licensure as a Registered Nurse
• Current BLS training required
• Successful completion of ACLS training, PALS, NRP, TNCC, etc. as required for specific departments, or willingness to obtain.
• Willingness to certify in nursing specialty.
• Possess good oral and written communication skills
• Must be able to work effectively under stressful situations
• Comprehensive knowledge of nursing theory and practice relevant to assigned nursing unit.
• Must be able to work as a team leader with involvement in planning, decision-making and constant alertness in observing and managing the work of others
