Job Title: Night RN - Medical/Surgical/Telemetry

Location: Shreveport, LA

Job Description: We are seeking a dedicated and professional Travel Registered Nurse (RN) with experience in Medical/Surgical/Telemetry to join our team. Our facility has 36 beds and provides comprehensive care for patients with various medical conditions. This is a traveler-friendly unit that values teamwork, professionalism, and high-quality patient care.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 1 year of nursing experience required.
• Open to first-time travelers.
• Must have BLS and ACLS certifications; NIHSS certification preferred.
• Required skills include medication administration, telemetry, wound care, continuous bladder irrigation, IV insertion, cardiac drips (non-titrating), oxygen administration, central line management, pre & post op care, NG tube placement, and G-tube management.
• Must pass an EKG competency exam prior to arrival.

Patient Types:

• Medical/Surgical/Telemetry: Sepsis, DM, CHF, COPD, PNA, Cardiac dysrhythmias, ETOH/CIWA, IVDA, DVT/PE, etc.
• No hearts, brains, or transplants.

Patient Ratios:

• RN: Nights – 1:6 with tech; 1:5 without tech.
• CNA: Days – 1:16; Nights – 1:23.

Support on the Unit:

• Charge nurse with patient assignment.
• Shared phlebotomy responsibilities with RNs.
• IV/VAT Team for midline/central lines.
• 24/7 Respiratory Therapist (RT) and Hospitalist.
• OT, PT, and ST available.
• Remote Tele monitoring with RN confirmation once per shift.

Equipment & Charting System:

• EMR: Meditech Expanse (paper charting as backup).
• IV Pumps: Alaris.
• Medication Dispensing: Pyxis.

Floating:

• Between 2 West and 3 West units.

Orientation:

• 3 days of hospital orientation.
• 2 shifts orienting to the unit.

Scheduling:

• Every other weekend rotation.
• 4 days one week, 3 days the next week (mandatory).
• Time off approved up to 7 days with contract extension.
• No call required.
• Must work major holidays.
