Position: Director of Technology (ANTICIPATED)
Term: Effectively Immediately
Classification: ACT 93 Employee
FTE: Full-Time, Full Year (12-month)

About The DistrictSouthern Lehigh SD serves nearly 3,100 students across five schools, which are highly ranked by U.S. News & World Report (2024). Hopewell and Liberty Bell Elementary Schools are ranked in the Top 10% of all elementary schools in the Commonwealth and each serves a population of more than 400 students in Grades K-3. The Joseph P. Liberati Intermediate School and Southern Lehigh Middle School are ranked in the Top 2% of all middle schools in the Commonwealth and serve nearly 700 students in Grades 4-6 and over 450 students in Grades 7-8. Southern Lehigh High School is ranked in the Top 10% of all high schools—public and private—in the Commonwealth and serves over 1,000 students in Grades 9-12.
Key Responsibilities
  • Responsible for all areas of district technology implement including software, hardware, systems administration, mobile and wireless platforms, security, customer support services, telephone, and network infrastructure.
  • Establishes and maintains an effective system of electronic communications (voice, digital) throughout the district.
  • Maintains accurate network maps/ documentation for all network systems and procedures.
  • Collaborates with the administrators and supervisors in all divisions of Southern Lehigh School District to integrate technology effectively into the instructional programs and support departments.
  • Supports effective online and blended learning options for students with a variety of special learning and accessibility needs.
  • Defines, architects, and executes the technology strategic planning for operational technology projects both in terms of infrastructure requirements and end user functionality.
  • Provides maintenance, service and service contracts on designated hardware and software.
  • Defines and oversees the software/ hardware replacement cycle, including end of life strategy, inventory records, and maintenance of records.
  • Oversees and assists in the purchase, installation, implementation, and management of all technology hardware and software.
  • Develops, implements, and monitors the Technology Department budget(s), for the effective operation of all technology programs and services
  • Manages and provides onsite and remote technical support; manages and provides emergency on-call technical support.
  • Coordinates the technology help desk and related help desk technician caseloads.
Note: Other related duties may be assigned.Additional Requirements
  • Ability to be at work during normal business hours (Monday through Friday) and at other times including but not limited to evenings.
  • Ability to independently navigate in and around school buildings and office areas, including hard-to-reach spaces.
  • Ability to stand, bend, stoop, sit, lift and reach.
  • Must be able to lift/carry a minimum of 20 lbs.
  • Ability to travel to and from assigned work locations without employer support.
Position RequirementsEXPERIENCE: Demonstrated experience in systems management.
ADDITIONAL: Valid Pennsylvania driver's license
Note: Selected candidates must be able to produce valid [1] PA State Criminal Record Check (ACT 34), [2] FBI Criminal History Record Investigation (ACT 114), [3] PA DHS Child Abuse History Clearance (ACT 151). and [4] PA Arrest/Conviction Report Certification Form (ACT 24) all within one year of issue at the time of hire.
