Fire Training Program Manager (TPM)Region 2DATE OF POSTING: February 13, 2024
BARGAINING UNIT: Starting salary range $49,046.99 - $63,995.20 commensurate with the agreement between the MCCS Trustees and the MEA Administrator Level IV.Benefits: 100% employer paid health, dental and life insurance for employees (spouse/domestic partner/dependent coverage also available), vision insurance, choice of Maine Public Employees Retirement System or TIAA CREF in lieu of social security, generous vacation/personal/sick time allowances, 13 paid holidays, professional development, and free tuition within the MCCS for employees, spouse and dependents.
Responsibilities: This is a full-time position responsible for leading and supervising the delivery of training for firefighters within Region 2 (Androscoggin, Cumberland, Franklin, Hancock, Knox, Lincoln, Oxford, Sagadahoc, Waldo and York Counties). The candidate may also be required to work in other regions of the state at times to meet operational needs. The candidate will be expected to work closely with local fire service leaders, including fire chiefs and training officers, assisting them with assessing training needs. The candidate is expected to develop partnerships with local and regional fire service organizations to enhance delivery and availability of fire training programs and resources. The TPM reports directly to the Operations Division Deputy.
Minimum Qualifications: Five years of fire service experience, preferably as a company officer or chief officer. Certifications in firefighting, fire instructing and fire officer required. A.S. Degree required; B.S. Degree desirable. Valid Maine driver’s license required and a background check will be performed.
Requirements: The TPM position requires extensive experience as a fire training instructor and experience conducting live-fire burns is helpful, as supervising live-fire burns is an important aspect of the job. Availability to travel extensively throughout the state is required. The normal work-schedule is Monday-Friday, but the position frequently requires attending evening and weekend meetings and training sessions. The TPM may also at times be required to deliver equipment trailers, training equipment, and other related materials to training sites throughout the state. The position is assigned a vehicle for use on the job.
