Southern Maryland Medical Group is Hiring a Medical Receptionist Near Greenbelt, MD

Southern Maryland Medical Group is looking for an energetic and self-motivated Medical Receptionist to join their healthcare team. We offer great benefits and competitive pay.
Minimum Education, Experience, & Skill Requirements: Must have knowledge of medical terminology and understanding HIPAA Guidelines. Must be able to perform and complete a full range of office procedures and clerical tasks. Must be able to work independently and in a team setting with other staff.

Essential Medical Receptionist Responsibilities

  • Patient Intake is completed with accuracy
  • Checks to see which patients are checked-in for their appointment through EMR system.
  • Requests all labs and hospital results and scan to patient chart in order to put together Pre-op packets to fax to hospital or other medical facility.
  • Answers the telephone with exceptional telephone etiquette and communication skills.
  • Responds to phone calls in order of queued calls and either redirects calls as appropriate or politely places callers on hold.
  • Identifies triage telephone calls and patient’s concern(s) then forwards caller to appropriate party.
  • Recognizes when supplies are low and places orders on supply order form.
  • Receives medical supply orders and stocks in proper storage place in office.
  • Performs quality control checks on medical equipment.
  • Checks and stocks examination rooms daily.
  • Periodically checks Nurse’s Station area for cleanliness and tidiness.
  • Shreds all papers with sensitive patient or organization information.
  • Completes other duties as assigned by Managers or Providers
  • Verifies patient demographics and insurance eligibility before scheduling appointments.
  • Obtains appropriates documents, records, and paperwork for patients when scheduling hospital follow-up, other provider/procedural follow-up, pre-operative and any other specified appointments.
  • Cancels and/or re-schedules appointments as necessary.
  • Comes to work on time, well-groomed, and with a good attitude.
  • Uses good judgment in decision making and communicating with all patients, staff, and other persons associated with the organization.
  • Communicates any patient, personnel, or electronic system problems with the appropriate supervising Manager in a timely and honest fashion.
