The opportunity

Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU), a NCAA DII institution and proud member of the Northeast-10 Conference, is excited to invite applications for the position of Part-Time Assistant Track & Field Coach (Throws).

You will report to the Director of Cross-Country and Track and Field for this on-site position, to implement training programs to help athletes improve their throwing skills and technique.

SNHU does not field a men's track & field team.)

What you'll do :

  • Plan and lead daily training sessions for the throwing events, including warm-up routines, technical drills and aid in the strength program.
  • Develop personalized training plans to help athlete's achieve their goals.
  • Provide guidance and feedback to athletes on proper techniques during training and at competitions.
  • Help us recruit specific student-athletes involved in throwing events.
  • Work with other coaches, staff, and administrators to ensure the success of the track and field program.
  • Provide mentorship and support for student-athletes, focusing on their academic, athletic, and personal development.
  • Ensure compliance with all NCAA, NE10 Conference, and SNHU policies and regulations.

What we're looking for :

  • Bachelor's degree with collegiate throwing experience.
  • 1 year of experience coaching javelin, shot put, discus, and hammer.
  • Effective at motivating athletes to achieve their goals in a supportive and positive environment.
  • Experience in strength training is a plus
  • USTFCCCA or USATF coaching certifications are a plus.
  • Hold a valid driver's license and be eligible to be insured by the university's auto insurance carrier to drive team vans to competitions when needed.

Work Hours :

10-20 hours per week. Practice times are flexible, but we ask that you are able to travel and work variable hours, including nights and weekends for some competitions.
