How You Contribute and Succeed

The Medical Laboratory Technician will, along with the team, ensure a safe, compliant, and accurate laboratory testing environment and process. The right person in this role will be detail-oriented and diligent in monitoring, testing, and documenting processes and quality control measures as outlined in the Standard Operating Procedures. He or she will also be a great teammate to work with; be a role model of our values and communicate and work with his or her peers and leadership effectively and will take pride in a job well done. General duties include:

  • Adhere to all laboratory standard operating procedures (SOPs) relating to personal safety ­ SOP.
  • Evaluate raw and final data for accuracy; recognize and correct errors and unusualresults: interpret results to produce a final report.
  • Maintain, calibrate, and clean instrumentation; perform scheduled and as needed maintenance and critical function check to recognize significant changes in instrument function; troubleshoot as indicated.
  • Perform required Quality Control/Quality Assurance duties including the following qualitycontrol rules: monitor controls for error detection and takes corrective action; maintainlaboratory records, maintenance logs, reagent and standard logs, and worksheets.
  • Knowledge of basic laboratory procedures and practices
  • Constantly reviewing current procedures and coordinating changes, with the supervisor approval, to implement procedures that will facilitate more accurate and timely reporting of patient results.
  • Assumes other duties as assigned by management
  • Multi-task and prioritize in all aspects of the technician job.

Education and Experience:

  • Associates Degree as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) from a NAACLS accredited school
  • MLT Certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology or American Medical Technologists
  • Two years of laboratory procedures preferred
