Southern is Hiring a Bldg & Asset Security Analyst Near Birmingham, AL

This position exists to provide technical systems support necessary to maintain the reliable and efficient operation of Life Safety, Building Automation, Critical Systems and associated equipment at APC and SCS Facilities across the State.
This position is responsible for software development/customization, maintenance, and technical expertise in support of the applications in the Facilities Services Department. Primary responsibilities include supporting and maintaining applications through all stages of the application lifecycle including analysis, design, construction, implementation, testing, commissioning and other related project management responsibilities.
The successful candidate will interface closely with system/application developers and TO administrators to design, implement, tune, and troubleshoot system and database solutions for new projects, enhancements to existing solutions, and implementation of purchased vendor packages. Significant coordination is required with developers and infrastructure support groups for operating system upgrades, software upgrades, migrations, and hardware replacements.
Job Requirements(Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills)
  • Bachelors or associates Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or other relevant education or certifications preferred
  • NICET level III or above including EST3, Siemens XLS knowledge and experience preferred
  • In-depth working knowledge of Siemens (APOGEE, ALS3, XLS) Trane’s (Synchrony), Adaptive Cool and other similar digital control systems.
  • Knowledge of telecommunications systems (CYSCO) such as WLANs, voice and data network systems including IP addressing and naming (DNS, DHCP, and WINS), Web and Proxy, Internet, Firewalls, Virtual Private Network (VPN), IP Multicast, and remote computing access.
  • Resident expert on communication protocols (BACNET, MODBUS, and LONWORKS).
  • Experience with Ccure Servers/Systems across the Southern Company (Access Control, Biometrics, Anti-tailgating, Turnstiles and CCTV).
  • Experience with EATON’S Foreseer Systems Class D, designed for the large data or communications centers, and Class E, designed for enterprise-wide applications.
  • Knowledge of elevator controls (Motion Controls, iMonitor, BMS-LINK/JACE Interface, Niagara)
  • General Understanding of budgets and/or capable of learning about budgeting (capital & O&M) and accounting processes to ensure budget compliance.
  • Administer contracts related to FLS, Automation, Controls, and other etc.
  • Experience in Windows OS implementation, backup and recovery processes.
  • Ability to analyze technical studies, financial impacts and customers' requirements in order to develop the best solution to meet both the Customer's and Company's needs.
  • Must have a strong focus on teamwork, be a team player and build strong relationships with customers, suppliers and other TO organizations.
Job Responsibilities
  • Act as primary point of contact for emergencies impacting the following but not limited to Siemens Life Safety Systems, Siemens ApoGee and Trane Building Automation, Software House Ccure Security Access Controls and Avigilon CCTV Systems at APC and SCS Facilities across the State.
  • Conduct research on available and emerging system technologies to recommend, implement, and oversee all aspects for upgrades to including but not limited to Siemens Life Safety Systems, Siemens ApoGee and Trane Building Automation, Software House Ccure Security Access Controls, and Avigilon CCTV Systems and evaluation potential new applications.
  • Support software and databases related to Archibus work order management system; use Predictive Maintenance technologies as well as other condition-indicators such as performance data, operator rounds data, PM results and work order history to evaluate and diagnose maintenance needs and make maintenance recommendations, equipment assessments, case histories, and cost-benefit analysis.
  • Consult with outside agencies and experts to gather and analyze systems, learn and apply best practices, benchmark expert opinions.
  • Maintain departmental MOBI application
  • Anticipate, identify, and mitigate systems risk and exposures, and provide timely response when incidents occur.
  • Provide system administration for critical control and monitoring systems used by Facilities Services.
