Transportation Program Driver (LIFT)

Summary Description:

The Driver position in the LIFT ride services is responsible for transporting clients to and from designate sites that may be within the SWCAP service territory or outside of the service territory. As the needs of the client may require, the Driver may assist clients with entering and exiting the vehicle. A commercial driver's license is NOT required. Drivers operate SWCAP-owned vehicles, common disability-accommodated mini-vans. The Driver position is a client-facing position, and courteous customer service skills are expected. Client schedules may require occasional work outside of regular business hours.

Examples of Duties:

The below list is intended as key examples of job duties. The list is not to be taken as defining all possible duties.

• Transport people with disabilities, frail elders, or other people with special needs to and from assigned destinations
• Assist clients when entering and exiting the vehicle, as needed
• Record ride information in a driver's log
• Inspect, clean, and perform light-maintenance on fleet vehicles

Previous Experience Required:

• Previous work experience as a driver
• Previous work experience in a customer service setting

Educational Background Required:

• High school diploma or equivalent

Required Licenses or Certifications:

• Valid driver's license with access to insured vehicle

Other Requirements:

• No motor vehicle violations.
• Ability and willingness to drive in all Wisconsin weather conditions.
• Ability and willingness to adapt work schedules to meet client needs.
• Ability to lift the equivalent of 60 pounds. Ability to assist passengers when entering or exiting the vehicle, as needed.
• Ability to sit for extended periods, such as when driving a long distance.

Pay: $16.00 - $17.50 per hour

Expected hours: 20 – 29 per week
