GENERAL PURPOSE
Under the supervision of Water Division Manager, Assistant Water Division Manager, or a Senior Water Operator, performs a variety of general maintenance, service and repair on the city drinking water and pressurized irrigation systems.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Safety Systems. Responsible to perform the following tasks safely, accurately, and according to City Policies and Procedures and state and federal regulations.
Equipment Operation. Operates and directs the operation and maintenance of light, medium and heavy equipment including but not limited to the following.
Miscellaneous Duties as Assigned. Must be able to report to work on time as scheduled and abide by all city policies and procedures. Must work well with others and be a team player. Must be able to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Must be able to deal with the public in a pleasant and courteous manner in all circumstances.
Must live within 20 minutes' travel time from Spanish Fork's city limits in order to respond to emergencies.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Applicants will be required to submit to a criminal background check and drug test.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS
Physical Demands. Requires moderate to heavy physical activity. Required to push, pull or lift medium to heavy weights. Required to work in difficult working positions. May have to stand, walk, or sit in uncomfortable positions for extended periods
Working Conditions. Exposure to adverse weather conditions, hazardous materials, chemicals and fumes, and prolonged high noise levels. Often works in and around vehicular traffic. May at times include exposure to high stress situations or environments, including contact with the public in confrontational or uncomfortable circumstances.
Hazards. Occupational safety and health hazards may be encountered under controlled conditions. May be required to work unconventional work hours or shifts.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Experience: Related experience helpful.
CPR Certification: Within 1 year of hire date.
Utah CDL: Class B within 2 months of hire date.
Forklift Certification: Within 1 year of hire date.
Flagging Certification: Within 1 year of hire date.
Traffic Control Technician Certification: Within 1 year of hire date.
Water Distribution Certification: Class II within 2 years of hire date.
IS-100, IS-200, & IS-700 Certifications: Within one year of hire date.
Mandatory On-Call: Work on-call 24 hours a day, seven days a week within a rotated schedule. Must be able to respond to emergencies in 20 minutes.
